Hello guys, I'm about to flush the power steering wheel fluid in my 2007 Tacoma V6. I have a confusion that I did some research on and just want somebody here can confirm to make sure before I can pull the trigger.

    1) My 2007 Toyota Tacoma - Owner's Manual said to use the Automatic Transmission Fluid DEXRON II or III for the power steering wheel.

    3.jpg

    2) I found a Valvoline Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid and in the back of the bottle, it's showing GM DEXRON II, DEXRON III and etc... so is this the right fluid for my power steering?

    2.jpg

    3) I checked the cap on my steering wheel underneath the hood, it's also showing DEXRON TYPE ATF ...

So with all of this, my question is ATF fluid can be used for not only transmission but also for power steering? just a little skeptical. Thank you for the clarification.

Yes, ATF can be used in a power steering system. After all, it's a hydraulic system just like the transmission is. The most important thing is the correct type and if it's compatible with what is in the system now.

In the whole system it's like 2 quarts give or take a little. I've just topped mine off after the wreck, my pump and reservoir got replaced. I've used not quite a quart to top it off so far. I've yet to get it started and turn the wheel from end to end. I'll top it off after I do.

You will be good with the maxlife atf. The system holds right at a quart. So if you swap out a quart with new stuff you will be good. Easy to do and should be done more often than it typically is.

    I agree.

The cooling, steering, and brake systems are usually serviced for the the first when there is a parts failure. Same with differentials.

Maxlife is the probably the best stuff out there as you can use it for both you power steering system and your tranny.
