MI think my 04 has a tube the loops in the power steering line to cool it. It's not as good as a finned cooler. But it helps.

Do you have a picture? I had to replace my radiator and I've been thinking about the trans cooler as I don't need it with my 5 speed. Just looking to see if anyone else has done it

It's possible the radiator coolant will be hotter then your P/S fluid.

wouldn't it still get cooler because of the airflow and fan?

Yup, it's behind the grill on the driver's side at an angle. It drops the ps temps around 20*.

Not really, it ends up being the coolant temp.

No but i don't see why you couldn't make it work. Re routing the lines would be the hardest part. My ps never really gave me problems when i was IFS and I wheeled It pretty hard.

The auto trans that goes to the radiator is actually to warm up the ATF. Do running the p/s lines to the radiator wouldn't cool it. I also thought the same. I thought it was to cool the fluid since that's what the radiator's job

The rack and pinion really don't fail on the hydraulic side very often, with bigger tires you're more likely to kill the guide bushings and tie rods.

Wow that's interesting I've never heard of that before. My friend was telling me to set up a fresh water container and use it to make coffee on the trail so I may just stick to that

So is there any upgraded tie rods and guide bushings?

If there were I'd love to know about them as well, best you can do is an OEM rack from the 01-04 years (those had solid bushings instead of a roller bushing) and the tie rods are cheap from Low Range Off-Road and come from a decent brand. I wheel my junk pretty hard and I've only managed to destroy one inner tie-rod and I replaced both outer tie rods just because they were old. Any rack other than OEM isn't gonna hold up to much more than street driving, we've all tried to cut corners there and we just end up buying OEM racks again after taking a loss on aftermarket.

FWIW I'm running the stock pump locked with 37s and a f250 steering box and it gets really hot and steers like shit off-road. If you don't already have one, at least get a twin stick for the tcase so you can cruise around in 2wd low and keep the steering cool.

I bought one through Amazon, someone local recommended it and I got a 3 year warranty wit it so hopefully it will hold up, it's an 01-04 style. As for tie rods I'll have to try those, my moogouters are getting pretty beat
