My dad has a 2023 Trail DCSB and has a power drivers seat that's pretty nice. I'd love to have that mechanism in my 2019 TRDSport DCSB with sunroof. I noticed that my dad's power seat on it's lowest position seemed lower than my seat so I measured it and was surprised to see my seat is higher than his and higher than my passenger seat.

It's not a big deal except I bonk my head on the sunroof frame whenever I hit a curb at angle.

Has anyone done this swap and retained their nice leather heated seats?

    Thanks!!

I know everyone has their own preferences, and I can remember the people yelling and screaming on here at Tacomaworld, and other places, about wanting power seats, or at least a power driver seat. I don't get it and probably never will. I also have a 2019, but a TRD Sport. When I got in it at the dealer upon delivery, I adjusted the seat to my preference, and it has stayed there for almost 5 years now, next month. I don't get why people need power seats? Maybe if they let other people such as a spouse/partner, and both use the vehicle and have different seat position requirements, then I guess I could see it, but even still, it just doesn't seem like a big deal to adjust the seat, especially without the added cost of a power seat. But hey, that is just my humble opinion...

Did you read his post or just the title before you decided to vent about how confounding other people’s desires are to you? He clearly explains why he wants one and it has nothing to do with anything you mentioned…

    Here op:

and some random video about swapping that I haven’t watched

That TW post is a great find. I love seeing posts showing people doing stuff like that. That post contains a gem about the cost of buying an airbag deployed seat being so low. Labor costs a lot these days.

I pulled my dad’s vin and have been digging through Toyota parts diagrams comparing them to mine and it looks like it’s possible but it’s an impressive amount of work and not just a subframe swap.

I stumbled into another realm of people taking their seats into upholstery shops to have the foam shaved to give them another couple inches. Cool stuff.

I’d like to keep this truck well past 250k like my previous Toyotas so I don’t mind investing if it makes sense.

    thanks!

I thought it was funny that dude man made almost the exact same comment on that post also:boink:
This post actually got me to call my local yard. 300 for electric, leather with warmers… If they had any.
Only deployed bags. I’m willing to run wires, but don’t know if I’m ready for the bag/foam swap. Just want my head away from the ceiling.
Could you provide more details on your measurements? How much lower is your dad’s power seat able to go compared to your manual seat? How did you measure?
