    Hello TW,

I know I'm not the first person to do this mod and make the rear window powered by a switch but figured I would share anyway. For less than $50 (products linked below) and an hour of time it's a great mod.

Simply mount the 12" stroke linear actuator on the rear window with epoxy resin for it to hold and wire the switch up and into existing button holes in dash. Also, utilize black zip ties to hold the rear window latch open.

question, that rocker switch in your link, does it lock one way or the other. In other words, when you push the button to open the window, does the window fully open and stay there, or is it a true rocker where you push it and the window begins to open and when you release the button the window stops in place?

Looks easy enough and probably easier then the other option that I've seen guys using to get their rear window to slide open by the push of a button.

subd. would be great if you add a write-up! Wanting to do this myself and the other methods I've read seem to be a little more involved than the product you linked.

    From the link:

"A maintain switch changes its position when actuated and will remain in the position until actuated again. Stays / Maintains / Latched / Lock/ Locked/ Locking in position placed."

What you describe is a momentary switch.

It is a maintained switch that locks one way or other. you can use a momentary switch to make it like the other windows. I used a maintained switch because it takes about 5-7 seconds to open and I didn't want to click and hold. The actuator has limit switches within it so it will never go past its 12" stroke.

Will create a write-up and update and post here this weekend!

Edit: Yeah this one is super simple and doesn't require pulling the rear glass window and such, literally only took 30 minutes to do.

I like the sound of it. I've been wanting to do the "slider window" upgrade for a while, and this sure looks like the easiest way to do it.

For sure, it's way easier than pulling the whole rear window and trying to retrofit an actual power rear window unit/bracket. Simply glue the two included mounts to the window and wire up the actuator to power and switch.

Went ahead and ordered the parts, arriving Monday, so it would seem this will be a next weekend install

Definitely interested since I prefer to roll the window down when it's not too hot or cold and I like leaving the rear window open when it's hot (I have a shell on the back).

Thanks for the links. Those actuators seem to have enough force to automate the side windows on my shell, will post up here if it works out.

Front shell slider with rear truck slider would be a nice combo

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
But with the latching switch, you are applying power all the time.

True until the limit switches interrupt the current. If the linear actuators seem to work in testing, I'll try momentary switches just to avoid having to rely on the limit switches.

Until you pop it back to the middle position that sends no power. I wouldn't leave it on left or right selection forever, just long enough to open the window and the limit switches in the actuator prevent anymore draw. You can always run a momentary switch of course, I just didn't want to hold a switch button for 7 seconds when I could be focusing on driving away while it opens.

It's interesting, I never use the rear slider just because it's such a pain in the ass to do manually.

Can you see the actuator when the seat is put back up? Would be great if it sits below the eye line
