I'm pretty sure it's 100W without engine running, 400W with it running. That's why it lights up "100W" if you press it with the engine off (and it produces power, yes) and the light near "400W" lights up with the engine on... This seems intuitive that it would allow a higher power draw when there is a source to replenish the battery... But I guess not

Although, I have a m/t. So no PRNDL stick here. Might be wired differently since others are saying the difference for them is if it's in P/N or D

400 while parked, 100 while driving. 400 is even with engine off.

Huh!! Mine hasn't worked like that when I've used it before. Must be remembering wrong or maybe there was a different factor involved that I wasn't aware of.

There seems to be mixed info from everyone on this subject. Some people say it doesnt work if the truck is off, some say its 400 while driving, some say its 100 while driving, some say it works all the time.

From what I have found on my truck (2018 offroad)
Its 400w while parked, engine on or acc on.
Its 100w while driving or in gear.

    Auxiliary Power
Power outlet operation details. Thanks for the info and testing.

Not quite sure that I own anything that only uses 100 watts but maybe a trouble light?

Anyone know where the actual inverter is?

Anyone wired led bed lights to it? I know its usually an AC/DC conversion, but wouldnt have to run a new wire to the cab.

Holy shit. This is still going on. If you really need to see if what you are about to plug into the outlet can run on the truck just grab a eating utensil with protruding arms, a fork will suffice. Before using the outlet, stick the fork into the outlet so it makes contact with both sides. You might have to bend the fork so it fits correctly. Now plug in your appliance, such as a iron, into the 2nd outlet. The final step requires a buddy. Have your buddy jump in the drivers seat. Most important step is to hold onto the fork in the outlet. This will ground the truck to prevent damage during the test. When you are holding the fork, have your friend start the truck. Voila. You can now iron your favorite shirt. Make sure you remove your shirt off before ironing. Safety first.

The fork! A timeless outlet tester. I rent, and end up moving a lot, it's the most used tool in my toolbox, since you have to test every outlet in the house for the walkthrough. Plus, when you're done, it's warmed up and ready for a hot meal.
