Getting mixed intel on this in my research. I want to get my King coils black, I was going to get powder coated (good friend does it so its pretty cheap). But ive read that the heat is bad due to process they make the coils, but also have read that the baking process gets no were near hot enough to affect them. Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks

PC the coils is fine. How do you think they get them colored the way they are?

It's my understanding that at around 400 degrees the spring rate starts to be affected, so powder coating should be done at 350 or below, if possible. But a lot of that will be waste, as the coating between the springs will be rubbed off in short order. In addition, the space taken by the layers of powdercoat on all the interior spaces will be gone so you have to continually re-torque your center spring and ubolts as the coating wears.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Powder coating coils it totally fine just have him make sure not to take the part temp over 400. Most powders cure between 375 and 400 anyway so you should be good.
