I’m considering powder coating front and rear bumpers and a roof rack and am shopping around in the Denver area. I got a ballpark quote from Mile High Powder Coating for $1500 for all three. RSG guesstimated $700-$900 for all three, but didn’t sound super confident. At these prices, I’m considering cheaper options I can do myself. Does anyone have powder coating recommendations or suggestions for alternatives? I’m not eager to drop a grand on something that’s likely to get beat up.

We've used Pro-tech in the past for a lot of jobs, we being the company I work for. They do good work but you'd have to call for quotes. If you do call, please let me know what they quoted as I'd be interested in what they say.

    Pro-tech
Custom Powder Coating Solutions Quoted them for a bumper and it came out to around $250
Roadrunner Fabrication Same deal, asked for a quote on a bumper and it was $400 for blasting and coating

Many powder coating companies want to blast and clean the parts before they get coated, which drives the prices up.

@dmurph1996 I just got off the phone with Pro-Tech and they quoted me $150 for both front and rear bumpers and the bed rack. There's no way that's accurate. I repeated it back multiple times to be sure I heard right and they said yes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I fully expect someone to call/email me with a correction. :)

Mile High Powder Coating $1500 includes media blasting, 7-10 day turnaround
    RSG Offroad $700-$900 no details
Pristine Powder Coating $1300 includes media blasting, 2-2.5 weeks
Roadrunner Fabrication $850 includes media blasting, 5-7 days
Pro-Tech Powder Coating $150 + $100 for media blasting through A-1 Metal Stripping, 2-4 weeks
Custom Powder Coating Solutions $850 + $425 for media blasting (but thinks it's not necessary for bare metal)

wow.....Either they liked you more than me, OR, you're right and can expect a correction down the road.

I currently have my bed rack and rock sliders there right now and am waiting for the final price. They estimated $200 for it all.....i too expect a correction:thumbsup:

Hoping to hear back/ get my items back by end of week. Maybe that's the catch, they don't have a solid due date? Will keep you posted though

@dmurph1996 I just called Mark at Pro-Tech and he gave me what I think is a more believable estimate, but still good.

    Front bumper $200
    Rear bumper $225
    Bed rack $150

Plus roughly $100 for media blasting through A-1. That's still way under what the other vendors are quoting.

So I got my parts back from Pro-Tech, sliders and a bed rack, and it was $200 flat.

@dmurph1996 Nice! That sounds like a deal. Did you get media blasting? Who made the rack?

They didn't mention anything about the blasting so I am not sure. It was raw steel when it was sent to them and i asked for a wrinkle black so there is a little texture to the powder. I had a local guy make it, name is Adam from Douglas Fabrication. Small mum and pop shop.

Since I have a Peragon cover I had him make special brackets. They go under the cover and attach to the rail system, the rack then slots on top and bolted on.
