I'm looking to touch up some black powder coating on a lo pro metal bumper. The bumper has tabs for a light bar i plan to remove. I have see "Steel It" in a spray can. I have also seen an undercoating rubberized coating in a can as well. The finish on the bumper has a slight texture. Any suggestions?

@whatstcp on the back side of hoop, it's about 3 inches on each side. I figured spray paint would look flat and the powder coat would look textured?

@whatstcp good idea. I’ll give it a shot. I wonder the difference between rust-oleum bed liner and 3M rubberized undercoating

Maybe get a can of each and a scrap piece of metal to do some testing on to see which one matches the best.

I don’t know what powder coat you have, but we typically recommend the following:

-clean thoroughly with Simple Green, scrub the area with a stiff brush.
    -Rinse and let dry completely
    -Rustoleum self etching primer
    -Rustoleum satin enamel

Cleaning is important and so is the etching primer. Powder coat is naturally very slick (even the textured) so you need something to etch and bite into it.

I get a can of color matched powder coat touchup spray from my powder coater. It has more warnings on the can than info about what’s in it, so it must be good. It is highly adhesive and thick. It works great for post trail touchup on my sliders, I highly recommend asking your powder coater for some when getting armor powder coated.

That is actually a great idea. The bumper came powder coated when i bought it. But I can call around to local powder coat shops to see if they will sell me a can. Thanks for that!
