Just got a cd mount. It seems like the best way without going on the windshield. Its low enough to not be in driving view.

It only blocks the clock on the audio screen.

Why do you need it mounted at all?

My last truck had a vent mount. I did not like blocking vents.

anyone else have any suggestions? I don't want to look like a spaceship. I wanted to try the magnet vents. Does anyone know they work well with our vents?

tried one in my Miata - sucked. iPhone6 kept sliding. that being said I was using it through a Speck case so that might've been too think for the magnet.

I wanted to get mine up a bit, too, so that I wouldn't have to look away when looking at the phone and also be able to see road movement from my peripheral vision. I bought the Mountek nGroove that most people usually install in the CD drive, modded it to use the charging pin from the ProclipUSA mount I had and hope it's going to work out.

The charge pin works, but I want to see whether or not I'm going to get vibration. I hope not, cause I really like the location.

ProClip should have a few options soon. I've used one of their A pillar mounts for the face of my Kenwood TM-D710G ham radio in my 4Runner for several years and I'm looking forward to getting another one for the Tacoma I have on order.

I've always liked the fact that ProClip has the charging capability but they're limited in terms of mounting locations.

I thought about this for a few days. Today I ordered their 527662 kit and a suction cup.
This kit comes with a hard wire cable that I will hardwire to the truck and run the cable between the dash and drivers side A-pillar. Then mount the phone on the windshield near the pillar. Only wire that will be showing is about 6", the rest will be in the dash.

There really is no where else to mount it without blocking something like a air vent or knob.

I've never had success with suction cup mounts.

This would put the phone in an awkward position for me as it locates the phone to my left, but I steer with my left hand and control the phone with my right hand.

Although the phone's location now sits in front of the volume and tracking controls of the head unit, those controls are also on the steering wheel, so no real loss.

I've had the opportunity to drive since the install and have found NO vibration. The phone is in a much better location for viewing and use. Very glad I made the install.
