Now that I've decided to have my 1998 2.7 L motor rebuilt, I need to find a shop to do the work. I'm not equipped to remove/replace my motor so need a place where I can drop my truck off and pick it up later.

are there any recommendations from out there on where to take it?

I found one shop and have an appointment, just wondering if anyone has experience with any of the shops in PDX..

If you can do some of the work I’d highly recommend just buying a long block from Toyota. Just swap parts over and install, last one I got was $2800+/-. A freind of mine charges $6500 for a full rebuild parts and labor

    Thanks!

I hadn't thought about a long block from Toyota. I'm a condo dweller I have two parking spaces, but can't do any of the work myself... I wonder what the dealer would charge? I'll give them a buzz on Monday.

My guess would be 7500-8500. See if you can find one of the techs that work there to do it on the side. I bet they would do it for $1k

Hey man, who did you end up going with? I got friend in similar situation who's picking up a 4runner that may need a full engine swap or rebuild. Reliability and warranty?
