I carry that compressor. (in my Jeep)
I like it because one battery runs all of my cordless tools and this compressor. (Also has the lighter plug)
So far it works good. (I've used it a few times and it's performed well)
I also have the ARB Twin mounted in my Taco. (But that's really expensive)

I've had a Viair 450 for a while and it's been great. It does not have a cig lighter plug though, it needs to be clamped to battery posts. It fits nicely in the rear seat footwell.

Define "the job". If you need something to keep around for once every few years when a stock size tire goes low/flat in the parking lot and dont mind waiting a while (10"+min) then any $30-$40 cigarette plug compressor will work fine. We keep an old craftsman one in the wifes camry and in my DD civic for that. If you're looking for something to air up 4 oversized tires when you get back to pavement...anything that plugs into a cigarette lighter will likely drive you nuts after it takes 2 hrs to get you back up to highway pressure, assuming it doesn't burst into flames in the process. You'll want something that draws enough power that it needs to clamp onto the battery posts for that. I bought a viair 300p for the latter situation back in 2020 for $147 and its "on sale" now for $180. It probably takes 10-15min to take all 4 33" tires on 16" rims from 20 to 40 and that includes setup and teardown time.

I ran a Lowes special for years. It was a $35 stocking stuffer, and it still lives in the fiancee's car at the minute. It was great - dial in the desired pressure, press go, come back 5 or maybe 15 minutes later to do the next tire. Slow, but it was cheap and reliable.

I'm currently running a Viair 88P for the Tacoma. Its every bit as light and portable and will fit in the rear seat cubbies. It will also inflate all four tires in a (reasonable) hurry when needed. They make bigger and faster units, but for occasional air downs, seasonal maintenance, and emergency use, the little 88P works wonders. 20 -> 32 psi in two minutes, which is lightning fast compared to the little cigarette lighter pumps. Plus, it won't overheat when you need to go from 0-32 psi.

    Good for trucks:

Napa 300LPM Air compressor (formerly was MaxiTrac300LPM) is on sale this month at napaonline.com for $125. It was out of stock for over a year. It got some really good reviews for being strong, fast, and at a good price. I just picked one up for myself today.
