    Has anyone installed a pop and lock tailgate lock for a 2019 Tacoma Access Cab? I bought the kit and installed everything according to online instructions and have 2 problem:
    First the cable is about 1.5 feet too short. Second, I cannot find where to tap into the power. They say to just tap into the IC1 connector which I cannot find. The picture in the instructions show a different wiring layout. There are no plugs facing down in my truck. There are about 3-4 plugs facing towards the passenger compartment. The remaining plugs have from 10-12 wires or spots for them. There is only one plug that faces towards the engine compartment with heavier gauge wires that only has 3 wires, a black on the end with a white above it and a blue next to it.

    If you have installed one of these on a 2019, I could use some help.

    Thanks!

    I have installed this in my 2018. Should be pretty similar. I used this youtube video, worked first try like a charm and has been going strong ever since.

    Thanks! I have seen this video but the kit I have is a bit different. Evidently the company had problems with their initial opener and have changed to something heavier. Also, they want you to run it to the driver's side footwell and connect it there. I think that they forgot that this is a farther distance and didn't change the length of the cable. Also, my wires are blue and green with white.

    I appreciate the help! The company's technical support seems non existant.

    I had heard they wanted you to go to drivers side, but I wanted the tailgate to unlock with the passenger door so as to not wear the locking mechanism when its just me getting in and out of the drivers door and the other doors don't lock/unlock.

    It worked! I remounted the cable from the tailgate pigtail to the front passenger's footwell and followed the instructions on the video. The only problem I had was that with the newer unit that was sent to me (PL8547HD) required that the wires be reversed. The green goes to the red and the blue goes to the green. Otherwise no other problem. The replacement opener seems more stout than the original version. Also, if anyone out there has a 2019 and buys the same pop and lock that I have, you will NOT have enough cable to run from the driver's footwell to the tailgate. You'll be about 1.5' short. Tapping into the power in the passenger's footwell leaves you with maybe an extra foot of cable which is easily bundled up and tucked away.

    Thanks again NoeWiy!

    I had the same issue with the HD upgraded kit on my 2020 (DCSB). I had to splice on the additional foot+ of cable to make it reach which is inexcusable in my opinion. I followed the instructions to a T and the only way to make that cable reach is to go to the rear driver door or the passenger side. I didn't feel like cutting all my zip ties and trying to decode some other connector's pinouts so I stuck with the manual and went to front driver side. Like OP, I also didn't know which connector was IC1 but thanks to another thread on here I found that it was gray (very light gray almost white) and it was the only gray one so that helped a bunch. For splicing the additional length, I used butt connectors, heat shrink wrap, some cable sheathing and some electrical tape, all of which I luckily had on hand. Probably didnt need the heat shrink wrap but it's done and works.

    Hey everyone! We heard there was some confusion with our new Toyota Power Lock (PL8547HD), so we wanted to jump in and offer some help.

    Regarding the length of the wire harness, it was designed with the help of our Toyota network to fit most common models if routed as described in the instructions. However, if you choose to run it a different way you might encounter not having enough length.

    We do sell an extension harness for optional routing and for truck models that have extended lengths. https://vehiclesecurityinnovators.com/product/crew-cab-extension-harness/

    Please see the chart below to determine if you will need an extension harness.

    Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to our Tech team with any questions!

    Hey TW peeps! We wanted to pop on here one more time to let you know about an update...

    As mentioned above, the PL8547HD was originally designed with the help of our Toyota network to provide a product that was of both high functional quality and precise install. Due to this, each component and wire harness was fitted to the exact spec of the most common Toyota Tacoma/Tundra models.

    Based on recent customer feedback, we have decided to revert back to utilizing our traditional long wire harness effective immediately so that you don't need to worry about an extension harness. This harness provides the additional length needed for you to deviate from our routing instructions and choose an alternative path for install. Rest assure, either harness will work for your vehicle.

    If you purchase product from a different place than our website, please allow time for this transition. Product ordered directly from our site will have the long wire harness now.

    We truly appreciate the feedback sent to us and hope this change will allow both freedom and ease during the installation process. For any questions, please contact our Customer Service or Technical Support teams.

    Technical Support: (844) 996-5625 Option 2 --> Option 1
    Customer Service: (844) 996-5625 Option 2 --> Option 2

    Also keep an eye out for our plug and play system that will be coming out before the end of the year! This kit will truly be our easiest DIY install ever! No more need for splicing into wires, just plug in and done!

    Thanks!
