My speakers need to be replaced and bestbuy has Polk audio dxi690 on sale. Wanting to know if the Polk audio dxi690 will fit in the front door? Crutchfield website said they don't but I've heard of people using these? If not, what are good speakers for the front and back. I'm trying to stay under $100 per pair so I can buy an amp if needed. Thanks

It is my understanding you can put 6x9 in the front doors, but I bought 6.5 inch speakers so I could get the benefit of component speakers (separate tweeter/woofer). You can see what I did in my signature below:

Nice setup how do you like the gtmat? I really want to sound deaden the doors and floor. I wish I had the money and the skill to do components and a sub.

The gtmat was easy to put in and really makes the cabin contain the sound. I can have the stereo cranked and only a little bit can be heard from outside. I love the way the doors sound when shutting the door, too.

I learned a lot from youtube videos that showed how to install stuff on the Tacoma, plus some help from people on here.

I am fortunate to have the cash to be able to really splurge on the system. If I keep the truck for 6 years, it will be a great deal on the stereo expense (at least that is what i tell my wife).

If you need any help, let me know!

Ok I got a pair of Polk audio dxi690 for the front and a pair of dxi651 for the rear. Everything for $100 at bestbuy, good deal I think. Now, What amp would be good for these speakers?

A 4 channel amp that had about the same amount of power per channel as your speakers can handle is the place to start. Also, decide where you are going to mount it. If under the seat, you will need to keep the size in mind.
