2010 DCLB w/ tow pkg and I'm trying to remove the factory 7-pin trailer wiring connector (which hangs really low under the bumper) with a 7/4 pin combo connector. The catch is that I'd like something plug and play which won't require splicing. I'm comfortable cutting/splicing but just don't like to do it unless it's the only way and I have a hunch there's gotta be some kinda easy solution here.

I'm looking at either a Hopkins 40974 connector or the OEM connector which comes on 3rd Gen trucks.

Will either of those plug right into my factory wiring? They both have round connections at the backside and the connection on the back of my current, factory connector is also round. Just not sure if that's a standardized connector and all this will plug right in or if there are different versions.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
Should be the standard USCAR connector on the back of either.

Thanks! I went ahead and just ordered the Hopkins one. Figured it would be easily returnable if it doesn't work (unlike the OEM 3rd gen one). Should be here today or tomorrow so hopefully I can check fitment soon.

Yeah, I'm aware of those. I was originally going to go that route but then I found out about just replacing/moving to the bumper. I'm hoping this way I'll spend about the same but end up with not only a safer location but a completely hidden location AND I'll now have a 7/4 pin combo rather than just the 7 pin. Win. Win.
