Please Help How to stop belt tensioner spring from moving to tighten new pulley?

Im replacing the belt tensioner pulley on my 05 tacoma 4.0 V6
I know its reverse thread but everytime I try to put torque wrench on it,it springs sideways. How do I hold it stationary so I can tighten it? Im having a total brain fart thanks

 

Did you try using the belt on there to hold it for you?

 

no cause I figured it would still spring sideways even with belt on there. I will try now though

 

I was able to get 30 ft. lbs. on the tensioner pulley bolt. but spec. is 40 still can't get spring from moving

 

Move the tensioner pulley to its relaxed state and insert a pin as in this picture from the service manual.

 

I used an old Screwdriver, cut the end off and use it as my pin to hold the tensioner in place.
