I like the look but man I’ve re done it twice after scuffing it up and I still always get a part that wants to come off where the plastic meets the chrome. I think I’m gonna try bed liner. Anyone think it’s a bad idea? I’ve seen a few good looking spray on bed liner jobs but don’t know how they hold up down the road. 2598156A-F905-4439-97F8-5B06E35F79EB.jpg

I feel like enough to suffice. Like 30 min worth but it could have been more thorough I guess. I still feel like he’d liner may look better..

check out a product called Raptor Liner, ive had friends use it with good results. IMHO the truck deserves better than parts store rattle can bed liner.

on another note, what did you paint your wheels with?

I scuffed my back chrome bumper with sandpaper, cleaned with alcohol, then did 2 coats of Herculiner bedliner and think it turned out great. No issues after 4 months ago far.

I agree unfortunately for the time being the chrome drives me insane and I can always sandblast the stuff off later.
I used plasti dip for that too. No issues so far!

I have Herculimer on my tool box and it’s good stuff for that but I feel like the texture is too much for the bumper. Spray liner seems to be thinner.

It'd be better to go with a bumper cover or just an offroad bumper that's powder-coated. More expensive, though. Just my opinion

The auto parts store bed liner rattle cans have the shittiest nozzles ever made. They could have done better with that design. Get the brush on stuff or a shop to spray it. It will turn out more even and stronger too, probably.

I did mine with Rustoleum rattle can bed liner, and it has held up for about two years now. Scuffed with sand paper, two coats of Rustoleum primer, then three coats of bed liner

With sand paper or Emery cloth? A palm sander with some coarse Emery cloth should scuff it up nicely.

I agree on the roughness that it provides. I wanted something that would last a while until I can get a powder coated steel bumper

I used roll on Herculiner on the bumper because of it's extreme roughness since it's also a step. Raptor bedliner is a breed all it's own and will be less likely to chip or peel and can be sprayed differently to achieve different textures. The bottom line is Herculiner cost about $25 to do the bumper and Raptor bedliner is well over $100 and requires spraying it and the equipment that goes along with that.

Scuffed with 120 up to 800, self etching primer since it is exposed metal, 3 laters of base, 2 layers of spraymax 2 part clear. Might as well paint match it after all of that work!

Just bed line your whole truck lmao. I plasti dipped my stock rear bumper before. It held up for a while. Easy to touch up if it gets scuffed.
