    Hey there
I've been reading conversations on TW about tire size and I'm settled on the 255/85r16. I currently have the OEM 2023 OR wheels (16x7 with a 25mm offset found the OEM info here) + TRD pro skit plate and the consent is that everything will fit (Minus mudflap maybe due to the weight of the skid)

I was looking at upgrading the wheel as well and I had my eyes on a
Black Rhino Wheels (1680ALS006140M06) 16X8 with 0 offset.
I was trying to crunch those numbers in various web app. Here the most comprehensive I've been using

    INCHES:
    mm/kg:

link to the above stats Am I overlooking something?

Will the 255/85 fits with a 16x8 0 offset wheel the same as 255/85 fits with a 16x7 25 offset OEM wheel?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Just for your consideration: Since you desire 33" tires (255/85R16) is it possible you will want a bit larger diameter in the future? If so, you might want to look into 17" rims as the 33" is about the largest diameter you can find for the 16" rims. If you are considering buying new rims why limit yourself? 255/80R17 would be the same as your stated wishes in the 255/85R16.

Go read through the skinny tires threads and you will find the answers you seek.

I personally have never run 255’s but I’ve run a variety of other size tires and I have black rhino wheels with a -10mm offset.

The size and wheel combo you are asking about should fit. I believe you start only seeing rubbing issues with the 255’s if you go way into the negative offset wheels.

Even when I was running 255s on my - 25mm wheels the rubbing wasn't bad.

Well I think the OP is concerned that with 0mm offset, the tires would rub. Because that would push them out of the wheel well farther than a +25mm offset, and make it more likely they would rub.

So if you’re saying you had some rubbing with +25mm offset then the OP’s 0 offset would rub even more.

No, the fitment will not be the same. It even says so on the website:

    upload_2024-9-22_8-46-16.png

By the way 255/80-17 has significantly greater availability. Often you'll see 255/85-16 on special order, 8 weeks out, etc., while 255/80-17 is in stock. 17" wheels also accommodate a brake size upgrade if you choose to in the future.

I said - 25mm not +25mm. And op should just do some research instead of making new threads.

The skinny tires on the higher offset wheel which is also a narrower width wheel is a tter combination. Skinny tire + skinny wheel. If you want a wider wheel with a lower offset, I'd go with a wider tire. You already have OEM 16x7 wheels put the 255s on the 7" wide wheels.

How you like those wildpeaks for winter highway driving? I'm traveling through Canada this winter on a set of them, I guess it's too late now as I bought them but just curious your opinion

So far, I've done 1 winter on them. Just as good as any snow tire, but not as good as an ice rated tire. I'm okay with 3 peak snow rated tires, but full disclaimer, I don't do much Highway driving.

I had 255/80R17 on my Tacoma with 0 offset wheels for years and loved them. I had to trim/heat mold some of the plastic wheel well liner and hammer in the rear pinch welds but had absolutely no rubbing at all no matter what I did. As others have mentioned, I went with the 17" wheels because the tire options in 16" size were very limited.

I recently switched out the 255/80R17 for 285/70R17 due to lack of availability at a local tire store and had rubbing issues and the wider tires felt way heavier. I would recommend pizza cutters over 285s every day of the week.

Curious, did you use the lower control arm and an alignment to move the wheel forward first in an attempt to eliminate the rubbing?

I had SPC UCAs, so I was able to play around with the caster quite a bit to accommodate the 255s.
