Hey everyone I just got my concealed carry and want to start carrying my pistol in my truck. Do you have any suggestions? I've seen some cool magnetic attachments.

Yeah. Defeats the purpose of concealed carry if you just have the pistol in your truck. And it’s both mo dangerous and annoying IMO to re-holster whenever you get out of your vehicle in a parking lot. For long stretch drives or interstate movement, just chuck in in the glove or somewhere you can reach it, but really...just leave it on your body if at all possible.

I only lock up the gun going into places like federal buildings that check for weapons while not in a status of duty. Or the VA...because I never know if they want me to get naked or not anytime I have an appointment...those savages.

The magnet under the steering column works great. And yeah I take it with me when I get out. Also have a console molle rack that a holster will fit on. Either or both are great to have.

A concealed carry permit is for just that - concealed carry. If I am on a long road trip and I have one of my removable holsters on I stuff it between the seat and console, but always put it back on before I get out of the truck.

if you do get some kind of mount in the truck, make sure the trigger is covered.

There is an airbag under the steering wheel. I wouldn’t suggest putting it there. I fabricated a metal piece that is connected to the center console where the holster is mounted, I aiwb carry, so while driving it is very easily accessible.
I have two of the same holsters so one stays on my person and one in the truck.
Obviously my pistol is always with me and never left in my truck.

On body carry is the best option to save your life if it really ends up going down.

I think the hesitation for new CCW folks is that they feel it will be too heavy and cumbersome to wear the gun all the time. With the right gear this is simply not true. You need a good gun belt to hold the holster up so it doesn't sag and and good quality holster to keep the gun in place with the trigger securely covered (<-- super important for all holsters).

Plenty of good choices for gun belts out there. Many dog$hit choices for holsters. I have found the perfect IWB holster. Buy this and thank me later:

Oh yeah. Carry with a round in the chamber or don't carry at all. :threadjacked:

    Correct and correct!
The right setup is crucial, and if you don't have a bunch of gun-nuts around to try their gear,,,, can be time consuming and expensive. I keep all my stuff that didn't work, so others can try combos before they buy.
Good training is a good goal too.

    My thought as well.

I bought a Wolf Tactical gun belt over black Friday and am really liking it so far.

I get the intent of ‘CCW means on body’, but there are still places you can’t carry, so it’s good to have somewhere to safely store your weapon when you end up at one of these places.

OP, is that your question, or are you looking for something with easy access?

As with what everyone said, always carry in person WHEN outside the truck. (car break ins are too common)

If your question is about having a holster mount (for easy access) while driving, magnet mounts and some MOLLE panels (@VicNic3 has a great example) would work. Regardless of what mount you go with, get a holster with a TRIGGER Guard.

IF your question is about gun storage for those instances where you cannot legally carry, a cheap harbor freight gun vault will do. Just make sure it's hidden.

^^^ This is almost identical to my setup as well.

I hate the current trend of plastic molded holsters but they work well attached to a molle panel in the truck. Otherwise, it's a Galco Miami Vice.
