    Hi All,

About two weeks ago I replaced my original Goodyear Wranglers. I was looking for a slightly more aggressive tire tread, but didn't want increased road noise.
My surfing led me to these Pirelli's and they seemed a good fit for my needs. I wanted a bit better mud and snow performance which I should get from these.
Make sure you get the new All Terrain Plus version as the older All Terrain Scorpion version is not as good.
After 2 weeks on the truck I have to say I'm impressed. They are as quiet or quieter then the OEM Goodyear's, and the balancing is spot on, very smooth to drive on at highway speeds.
I've had them in some muddy roads and they do hook up and shed mud much better as well.
I also find they handle road irregularities much better, the truck tracks a straight line very well with these tires. I bout them in the stock sizes for my truck.
I would recommend these to someone looking for a good pavement and off-road compromise tire.

I had these on my 2017, they are really damn good tires. Great price, light, and did very well off road.

Looks like a great tire. How was pricing, a little bit more money or a lot more money? Compared to the OEM Goodyears or Firestones.

    Nice looking tire!

Not shitting on pirellis or anything, but I had pirelli scorpions ATRs and they were probably the worst tires I’ve ever had. I had them for about 4 years and had plugs in 3 out of 4 tires. They were horrible in all conditions. Not sure why they were called “AT” tire. They were good on dry highways though:).

First of all, I want to say thank you for posting this. My wife has had 3x sets of Pirelli Scorpions on her Outback because she likes them so much and I’ve been thinking I’d get them for the Tacoma once my stock tires burn out. And B.) of all, can you post a pic of what they look like on the truck with more of the truck showing than the close ups you have posted now? It’s hard to find good pics of them on Tacoma’s because I don’t think they’re too popular on them but we are definitely fans of them over here.

They are comparable in price to the factory tires, within a $10-20 range.

Also, be sure to look at the All Terrain Plus (ATP) ones, not the ATR ones which are poorly rated.

Pricing was fair I thought at 230 Canadian a tire.

My experience with these tires is similar to your's. I have had them for almost a year. They did well in the Maine winter. I decided to run the E loads. Beefier than the stock Goodyears, but probably not as heavy duty as E KO2 or Duratracs. A great compromise as far as I'm concerned. I did not notice any degradation in power when on tar.

They have recently come out with the All Terrain Plus which is a new gen of this tire.

I can’t speak for the older generation of this tire.

    cheers

After much consideration, I put the Scorpion AT Plus tires on my truck a week ago and I can say that I am super impressed by the comfort of these tires. I was coming from M/Ts and my main considerations were to: quiet the ride, and improve traction in wet. Three Peak designation was also a consideration but not as much. As was pricing.
My finalists were these Pirelli's, the Toyo AT3 and the Bridgestone Revo 3.

It is utterly amazing how quiet these tires are. They have a softer sidewall than the other two tires in my final list, but that is a compromise, just as any other would be. I drive the highway more than I off road, so I'll use my spare if it's ever needed.

Note we don't get much rain here, but that is why wet traction was important to me. I know I suck driving in the rain. And it was worse with the M/Ts.
The Pirelli's were the least expensive of the three finalists.

I put the AT Plus on my 2018 Colorado and really liked them.

Yes, the Scorpion ATR is/was considered a lousy tire. A tire guy told me Pirelli developed the AT Plus to make up for their mistake (the ATR). He also said the AT Plus struggles in sales because of the bad rep of the ATR. BTW, the tire guy had the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus tires on his truck.

Easter egg: The center 3 rows of tread blocks are shaped like a P and S for Pirelli Scorpion.

After having mine on for a few months now I can say I'm very happy with them, much better then the stock Goodyear's for sure.
They are very quiet for sure which is nice, and with a more aggressive tread pattern which I was looking for as going to my cottage the roads can get a bit muddy. They are also snow rated so this winter I'm not going to switch over to dedicated winter tires so I can check out their performance in the snow as well. Looking at the tire I think they will do well in the winter.

I would recommend these as well. Have had the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus on since November and have handled the mud, snow, and dry pavement in the Norteast (upstate NY) quite well.

What was the down side to the softer sidewall for you? I have been giving these some thought since I read @Alan_G_TRD .

I had pirelli scorpions ATR on my previous truck and all I can say they were absolute garbage, unless driving on dry highway.

No clue why they were considered “AT” tire.

Definitely, the AT Plus is a different beast. I am on my second Maine winter with the AT Plus. Good for the snow. Good for the light off-roading I do. No complaints.
