So, I have wanted android auto for some time now. I bit the bullet a month or so ago and bought a new headunit.

I bought the Pioneer 3800nex floating screen from crutchfield with all of the recommended harnesses. Overall, it was a simple install. I ran the new gps antenna and microphone, flashed the module, and everything was pretty plug and play.

I pulled the unit out today and recessed it a little further so it didn't stick out as much. I really like the unit. My biggest complaint is there is a small delay in the backup camera turning on.

There is a small gap where you can see the mounting screws. It comes with a cover, but due to the bezel lip, I couldn't get it on. I think I could work it in there, but it doesn't bother me enough to mess with it.

    Great upgrade, would recommend!

The glare isn't bad, but in direct sunlight it is a little dim.

It's a 9 inch screen. My truck is a little older and doesn't have that feature, so i am not sure. It does have another camera input though.

I just installed mine today. The gap bugs the crap out of me. Guess I’m just fussy like that. I’m seriously considering trimming the panel so it will fit over the screen for a flush fit. Still mulling it over.

Got it to fit flush. Left a few scratches, more work

Backup camera is much better than the OEM head unit. Also make sure to hook up the blue white wire from the new antenna wire so your local radio stations have good reception. So far very pleased with the sound , screen and functionality

How did you get the flush fit?

I tried a Dasita android unit a few years ago.. it lasted less than 6 months before it overheated and stopped working.. Dasaita sent me a base unit, but the screen never worked quite right, and then it stopped working altogether after 10 months..

I really liked it when it worked. Waze was fun, and easy spotify access was excellent.

What can the 3800 do when my phone isn't in the truck with it? Is there a radio that functions regardless of a phone being attached?

Is everything super smooth, aside from the rear camera? Android auto run well? I don't want to spend $1000 to have something that needs to be coaxed into being functional.

I am interested in this head unit as well, how do you like the sound quality? From the spec, the pre amp voltage is 2V compare to 4V for the WT7600NEX. Thanks in advance.

A better photo. I rolled the window down and positioned the sunlight to better show the fit.

Sound quality is great. Also limited based on my speaker choice. Not sure I am qualified to evaluate the sound quality per se, but to my ear overall it is good. I will say that my Alpine 507 w/ Alpine AMP and Focal speakers in my old Subaru was superior in every aspect. Again I don't know how much of the difference is the head unit and how much is the speakers, both setups running the same Alpine Power pack style 450 amp for 50Watts RMS continuous.

Definitely more adjustability as far as the eq goes. I installed an 8 inch kicker hideaway after, so can't speak to the difference between the 2 volt and volt pre-outs.

How is this unit working for you now?
    Would you still recommend it?

The only problem I have is the unit doesn't auto connect to my phone all the time. I have to click a couple of buttons, nothing major.

Overall, I still like it a lot, and I LOVE the wireless android auto. Just know though, that feature is a battery drainer.

My wife has a Rav4 with android auto, works just at good (wired only), but I much prefer mine!
