Why? I’ve been eyeing it, so I’m curious about your experience. Would rather have the 8600, mainly bc that’s the one crutchfield sells, but the 8500 is the only one I can find in stock anywhere.

    Cool stuff
super buggy , inconsistent with car play. Freezes and restarts out of nowhere .... pioneer aware but no fix yet .... read reviews and you will see what I mean

In a car long ago, well before touch screens, I had a Pioneer with a bad motherboard, and Pioneer’s customer service was AWFUL, so that definitely gives me some pause.

The restarting can be fixed by the powering the pioneer directly from the accessory power in the harness than via the Maestro. I think I posted about it in this thread previously.

I’ve had several pioneers and only the one had problems. Once it was fixed, it worked great too. But getting it fixed was an absolute pain.

I do! Enjoyed it initially… then after three years… intermittently the audio would stop…. three days later it would start acting normal. An hour or two with Pioneer customer service couldn’t correct the issue… reset settings factory reset and finally it quit for the last time… off to the recycle bin… replaced it with a Kenwood Excelon DDX9907XR.

Anyone ever had an issue with a flickering oem backup camera on this head unit? Super frustrating, I’ve replaced the camera and it still happened, and swapped inputs of the front and rear camera and so it’s narrowed down to the head unit’s rear camera input. I just updated the firmware on the maestro and I’m hoping that will fix it
