Does anyone have the pin diagram for the ID2 connector that describes what each pin is used for?

I'm looking to install a backup camera. From my research, people on here suggest tapping the reverse trigger wire from the stereo to pin 1 of the ID2 connector (which is a red wire with white stripes.)

So, I googled for a while because I'm just curious about what the other pins on the ID2 connector are used for. Do automotive companies have this info available for free?

I can poke around and see what I can come up with, the way Toyota does their wiring diagrams they are divided by systems there is no pin designations for junction connectors only connectors at modules so you have to go through each system and see what goes through each connector on what pin.
What year, engine, and transmission do you have?

Ok here you go, this is what I've decoded from the wiring diagrams. I've also attached the relevant diagrams.

Pin 1 (Red/White): Reverse light power from backup lamp switch (Powered by the IG1 Fuse (10A))
Pin 2 (Orange): Fuel Level Sensor Signal
Pin 3 (Violet/White): EVAP Canister Vent Valve Ground
Pin 4 (Blue): EVAP Canister Pressure Sensor 5V Reference
Pin 5 (Yellow/Black): Fuel Level Sensor Ground
Pin 6 (Light Green/Red): Auto LSD Indicator Control (With Auto LSD Only)
Pin 7 (Blue/Black): Downhill Ascent Indicator Control (With DAC Only)
Pin 8 (Yellow): Trailer Brake Control (Tow Package Only)
Pin 9 (Green): EVAP Leak Detection Pump Control
Pin 10 (Grey): EVAP Canister Pressure Sensor Signal
Pin 11 (White/Black): Ground for EVAP Leak Detection Pump
Pin 12 (Brown): EVAP Canister Sensor Ground

Wow! This is amazing. What do you do for a living sir haha

    Thanks for your help btw

I got some questions. I was able to follow the wires from the diagrams you have, but how do you determine the names for the wire... for instance, how do you know that it is called "EVAP Canister Pressure Sensor 5V Reference"?

I can see that the wire is connected to the EVAP diagram, but I'm just curious on how you got the names

I work at an automotive shop and do alot of electrical & driveability diag.

I've learned over time how to read and interpret wiring diagrams, every manufacturer has different layouts and terms for circuits but once you learn the basics of reading a wiring diagram and understand how circuits work it's pretty easy. I've learned alot about Toyota systems from helping people on here and testing on my own truck to better understand how they work.
Take the wire your talking about the diagram shows it going to the canister pressure sensor and the VC (Voltage Constant) circuit on Toyota is the 5v reference circuit which feeds the 5 volts to power all the 5 volt sensors on the truck therefore I know it's the 5v reference feed for the canister pressure sensor.

Wow, that is some great knowledge and insight that you just shared.

I always wanted to learn how to read and interpret automotive wiring diagrams. Hearing you talk about it makes me want to learn some more about it. So, for VCC and GND it's understood to be voltage and ground, but how do you learn what the other acronyms are? For instance, for the same diagram but for the Engine Control Module how do you know what VPMP or PPMP stands for? Do they have an appendix page for this, or is it just through experience?

Once you learn the fundamentals the rest comes down to experience and learning how to determine circuit design.

Wells Tech has a pretty good 2 part series about reading and understanding wiring diagrams.
Also check out the guys linked in my signature if you wana learn more about electrical and driveability diagnostics and repair.
