If you have a SR5 model, you can download this app and it'll 'broadcast' the app information to your headunit. It's a nice low cost feature Toyota has added on the "Generation 2.5" Entune head units. It's not the greatest nav interface out there, but for no added cost (aside from some data off your cell plan), it's not a bad deal.

*Note* The app needed is Scout GPS Link. There is also Scout GPS (made by the same company). You need the "LINK" version for this to work.

    http://www.toyota.com/content/entune/pdf/Scout_GPS_Link.pdf

    Apple: Scout GPS Link

    Android: Scout GPS Link
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telenav.app.android.scout4cars

The phone must be connected via Bluetooth and have the App installed on your phone. Once the head unit recognizes the app, it'll start downloading the app to the headunit and you'll be good to go.

It's only on the SR5 model (since all TRD models seem to have nav).

I just got a truck in. I'll go demo it.

The SR trim H/U is similar to the SR5 radio less XM radio.

It may seem that way but we are told it does NOT have the feature built in to use data from your smart phone. The SR5 radio should have a "Apps" section where it has weather/traffic info (though it's a static traffic map, data for both are obtained via HD Radio Signal)

I'm trying to step out to do it as well but keep getting bombarded with customers w questions.

Yes, 2016 model year Tacoma SR5.

If the nav system doesn't have what you are looking for could you use this method as an alternative? (On something with jbl, for example. )

I doubt it. The factory-nav hardware is the larger screen so it'll likely not have the coding in the software to trigger a download of the on-headunit app when detecting a Bluetooth connected phone with the app.

I'll just keep using my iPhone or iPad connected and letting the nice lady give me directions thru my stereo....and will only look at the map screen if I need to....works fine for me.
