I’m picking up a new 2024 this week. Through my search I haven’t found any decent phone mounts, am I missing something? The Off Roam vent mount has been perfect for my 2019…
    Suggestions? Thanks in advance…

I was a big phone mount guy as well. But the wireless charging combined with Android Auto in my use case has worked flawlessly for me. As a suggestion, maybe wait to see if it works for you as well before you get something unnecessary.

I just move it between the wireless charge spot or next to it, and can't see why I'd need or want anything else because the interior designed with it in mind.

Ok thanks. I guess I’ll just see what I have to work with when I get the truck. I’m old in this technology stuff creeps up on me!

I am weird about phone mounts, tried quite a few before I got something I liked. This is a little different than most, its actually a motorcycle setup

if you have your phone paired to radio. it shows everything on 14" screen. so why do you need your 5 inch phone mounted below it? what are you going to look at on the phone that is not already on the 14"screen

The screen shows a lot of information, but not nearly everything on the phone.

I don't see the point of a phone mount anymore, just leave the phone in the wireless cradle and use the navigation screen and controls on the steering wheel. The wireless charging feature has worked great for my iPhone.

My Taco isn't going to have the wireless charging, but between the CarPlay and the fact that there's a few places I can stick my phone while it's plugged in, I'm not sure I'm going to need a phone mount.

I've already got a RAM X-Mount with a suction cup I use in my old car. I was thinking about getting a clamp for it to replace the suction cup to attach it to the oh-shit-handle in the center console like others have. I just wish RAM parts weren't so damned expensive. They're good, but that clamp is like $40 all by itself. Yeesh.

I don’t have wireless charging, but got a charge cable with a 90 deg connector and still stick it to where the wireless charger goes.

Off topic, I’m considering taking the console apart and adding a wireless charger for under a table or desk and put it behind there.

I thought all new Tacomas came with wireless charging just because mine did, but I see that they don't. It must be an upgrade item. My Tacoma is listed as "upgraded SR5."

I will occasionally run my phone as a second screen for applications that won't run on Android Auto.

Mostly my radar detector companion app on longer trips.

Yup. It’s part of the upgrade packages. Mine’s a TRD Sport Base.

So my order came in today. I bought the Proclip Center Dash Mount and the MagicMount Charge Elite Wireless Phone Holder (which is technically by Scosche but I bought it through ProClip). These two combo is kind of pricey being $35 + $70 full price respectively. But if you time it right or sign up for their first purchase discount code, you may be able to get around 15% off like I did. Comparatively, I think they're similar price to a RAM mount system or Peak design that offers similar features.

Here are my initial thoughts and impressions:

ProClips system is a two piece system. You gotta buy the mount that's made specifically for your vehicle because their mounts utilizes specific dashboard plastic that the mount can attach to. And the phone holder itself, which various based on phone, size, wireless charging capability, etc. My phone charge is Qi-2, fast charging, and comes with a cigarette adapter and some cable management (but I didn't use them).

There isn't a lot of empty plastic area on the dashboard to attach a phone mount to in this car. I bought this one specifically because it mounts to the exact area I want my phone to mount in and doesn't attached to the actual vent blade itself. It basically wedges itself into the top and bottom grooves that's on the inside edge and hold it into place. And it fits surprising well and very solid with no movement. You can view their official installation video to get a better idea.

Then you just attached your phone holder to the mount itself. Mine has a ball socket system so it's adjustable. Again it's very solid once tighten. It has a built in cable and cable management that you can wrap around the mount itself to adjust the length to nice and tidy. I tucked my cable into a gap that's underneath the A/C controls. Very convenient gap, thanks Toyota.

Overall it's a solid mount, wireless charging works great, and is very tidy. Only complaint so far is that it obviously takes up half of the vent but I'm still able to control the blades based on where I put the mount. Also, depending on where you put it and how big your phone is, it may be very close to the shift lever. I pulled mine away to take the pics so it doesn't show this.

Yes I have the build in wireless charger. No I don't like using it. I think it sucks.
