That looks pretty nice, if it doesn't require a seperate interface like a maestro to operate and talk to the truck's systems and steering wheel controls then its actually a good price. I did something similar with my '06 about 4 years ago and for a nice kenwood head unit and the Maestro to make play correctly with everything in the truck inc the JBL it was at least that expensive and the screen isn't near as large.

Since they're advertising it for a 05-15 I assume you detach the connectors from the AC controls and airbag display and those plug into the head unit so you have on screen ac controls. If so that's pretty cool. Since most of the earlier tacomas dont have dual zone AC I wonder if the on screen controls can be changed to reflect that. It'd be nice if it connects to the OBD port also, didn't catch if it does that but I found that to be a handy tool. I can switch over to some onscreen gauges that get their values from the obd port, stuff like instant mpg and avg mpg, eng temp in degrees, etc.

Did you ever find out about how the Phoenix head unit performed?

Just by looking I already like the Phoenix better because of the physical knob for volume and the climate control buttons look less crappy. And also it’s got a more updated OS and for the RAM/ROM performance it’s a lot cheaper. When you option up the Aucar unit with more storage it gets $$$
