I get it Tacomas are slow af, but once you add armor and bigger wheels it gets even worse….. does anyone have any recommendations for performance mods that can boost the speed and acceleration of this little truck??? mom trying to stick with naturally aspiration at the moment so superchargers or turbos out of the question lol

Regearing is your only option to recover your lost power. Forced induction is just a band aid.

Simply take your favorite drill bit and starting at the front fenders working back, drill holes in every body panel (it’s called “cheese whizzing” the body, I believe. Weigh the removed metal and be proud of the performance gain. 98B6AF32-4F05-4DF6-8B30-AA93C6AED65E.jpg

    I did the TPP.
    Trailerpark Performance Package.
1 - TRD pro accelerator on the intake. (Trd Pro intake is better). I wouldn't listen to the k&n cult followers and their cai advice.
2 - Throttle body spacer (Possibly just an overpriced whistle but it isn't hurting anything so I left it on).
3 - Pedal Commander (No power or speed gains but eliminates throttle lag).
4 - Axle dump (eliminating 2 extra bends from the stock exhaust).

but like the one guy said. There really isn't much more you can do.
Keep the air, fuel and spark clean.

I have not dyno'ed my truck so I can only give you anecdotes.

Nevertheless, the following bolt-on, non-forced induction modifications and maintenance habits allowed me to increase speed while driving uphill (60-70 MPH) on the highway in fourth gear, as well as better throttle response and speedy acceleration, all relative to OEM:
    • 1 inch throttle body spacer
    • Frequently cleaned throttle body and MAF sensor
    • Frequently ultrasonically cleaned spark plugs and fuel injectors
    • Frequently ultrasonically cleaned or replaced PCV valve (plug) and grommet
    • Frequent oil changes with full synthetic Mobil1 5W-30 and K&N oil filter
    • FIPK cold air intake
    • Straight headers
    • Cat-back exhaust
    • Fiberglass header wrap with high-temperature silicone spray
    Some other things to try:
    • Ultrasonically cleaning throttle body
    • Porting throttle body (maxbore.com)
    • New fuel filter

Wouldn't quite go as far as "most".
Do you have anything to offer OP or just troll and bash others who try?

Lol. Pointing out that people are posting things that don’t even apply to your truck is not trolling. I didn’t want him to waste time on a wild goose chase looking for parts that don’t exist.

I pointed out what I did. to the '16 it says above it.
The only thing I posted that doesn't apply is the intake acc.
You're only sending him on a wilder chase by vaguely saying most won't work. but look, man. I come here to learn and try to help where I can.
    Not argue.
I'm Brian. Nice to meet ya.

I joined TW only today and don't want to get on anyone's bad side but it definitely seems awkward that someone would suggest third generation modifications in a first generation forum. More, it doesn't look to me like anyone is trolling you. People are simply saying that your input was inapposite.

You’re in the first generation section. OP is asking about a first gen truck, which is an entirely different animal. Trying to help is fine, but context is super important. I was trying to be as nice as I could by just pointing it out and going no further, but you still took issue with it.
