Scroll down to last few posts for review. Rusting hardware at less than 6 months of owning. Edit 3/9/21 - Buy Cases for Less is sending a new BX90 after I showed the pics of the corrosion.

    Original...
Holey moley the 140 was HUGE and way too heavy to be usable for how it will get used on my end. Quick call to Buy Cases for less it was on its way back to them. Thankfully they provided a free return label. No more early morning impulse orders for me with Christmas money in hand. Sheesh.

Went ahead and ordered the BX90 and medium case mount. I'll update this post when they arrive.

I'll be back here to update when it gets mounted and sees some real world use.

So my bravo roof rack is on the way and I've been searching for storage ideas. Every post I ran across required drilling into a brand new plano, pelican, etc... Could not see me doing that. Plus easy removal of storage when not in use is another option I was looking for. Me thinks I found it or I have completely missed what you folks are doing on roof rack storage and mounting options.

And I absolutely did not pay that much. Buy cases for less has a 35% off coupon - 2020cargo. I did not buy the mounting kit yet but that will come after the holidays. Don't even have my roof rack yet.

I figured the 140 was going to be huge. I actually came across this post and cancelled my order from pelican, ordered the 90 from the site you mentioned instead. I measured twice and still couldn't wrap my head around how much space it would take on my roof rack. The 90 just makes more sense.

Did you receive the 90? Are you happy with it?

Dang I hear you on size. Weight and my short arse arms didn't help. The 90 is on the way along with the mount. Should be here by Friday. Still waiting on my roof rack so won't be able to give much of a real world report on the 90 yet.

Still waiting on roof rack. But I did use this weekend in bed of truck. Mucho storage but the mofo is heavy. I'll only put light weight stuff in it when it moves to the roof.

Still no roof rack to mount this thing. Any friggn day now, I hope.

But I will say after a trip to the beach the latches are beginning to get surface rust. Something I was not expecting.

That's interesting thanks for sharing. Still waiting on mine. Is the 90 still more manageable than the 140?

90 is MUCH more manageable but still on heavy side. The rust on latches is concerning. Really like the box just need my damn roof rack. Ugh.

Long overdue review for the bx90. 3 stars out of 5.

Bottom line upfront: Overpriced plastic cargo box but no drilling holes in it to mount to rack out weighs that for me.

I’m hard on my equipment but use it as it’s intended. I also take care of my shiat for longevity. Problem are the metal parts. Showing corrosion at only a few months old and handful of trips. That’s not cool. Going to call customer support next week to see what they have to say. And it also seems I’ll need to secure the latches that hold the box down. One popped off. May not have secured it as good as I should but I’ll get 4 of those TSA style locks for added security.

Good to know, do you live near salt water? I'll be mounting my brackets tomorrow. I have a Gobi rack and the universal tubular clamps won't work. Will be using six bolts with nyloc nuts on each mount hopefully that keeps it in place. Honestly Might be stronger than the universal tube clamp.

The rust is concerning and annoying. They could have use stainless hardware...

To your point I agree it costs more than other options but the quick release is great, the lifetime warranty and all on one solution solidified my decision. Time will tell on how durable they are. I’m really curious how much weight I can realistically put in the BX90R.

I plan on keeping my case on the roof for some time to test and make sure it stays put. I live about 5 miles from sea water will post an update with photos if I see any rust.

I live inland - 4 hours form the salt. I'm looking forward to what customer support has to say and will report back here.

I'm second guessing myself on what weight I can put in the 90 too. It's still quite heavy unloaded.

And good luck on your mount!

A1927302-C3B9-4B93-84FD-42A6415465A0.jpg Hey regarding the mounts...I know you have a different rack but this might help you.

I didn’t like how far they were apart and wanted to use the middle bar for extra rigidity. 1/8” aluminum flat bar seems to do the trick. Test fit right now but rock solid. May put middle bar in too but will test for a week.

That’s a clever setup and looks solid. I just need to tighten two more bolts and will post a photo. Hopefully that will help others with a similar roof rack design.

I’m a little disappointed. The mount is extremely secure. Case fitment is spot on but the clamps are SUPER difficult to close and on top of that, they don’t stay closed yikes. Since you have the same case, the little latch that grabs onto the catch doesn’t stay engaged. The cable lock is going to make a big difference so they don’t come undone but very concerning. I was reviewing your post from earlier and noticed that you had a similar problem. I was able to bend the metal where the catch holds onto down a bit and that helped. The metal is too soft.

I wonder if these latches will be a problem. Need to get a few extra to have spares. Cables locks are a MUST.

Your last comment about cable locks is also spot on. Submitted a customer inquiry last night and calling this morning. The damn rust/corrosion is concerning.

Update as of March 8. Buy Cases for Less is sending me a new BX90 since my current box is trashed. I have no faith in the longevity of the hardware but will try one more time.
