Anyone know how difficult it is to replace? Or how much a Toyota would charge for an OEM replacement? I have a 2015 DCSB and some worthless theif decided to bust out my rear side door window while I was having Christmas dinner with my wife.

Trying to decide if it's cheaper to go through ins or pay out of pocket.

    People suck sometimes.

Call safeglass. Gonna be way cheaper than OEM and you will not know the difference. Merry Christmas.

Awesome 281.00 installed. Made an appt for Tuesday to get it done. Great suggestion.

Now to find a replacement for my 2month old Viair compressor that was snagged.

Good deal man. Yeah that's a little tougher. I forgot to lock my last Tacoma 6 or so years ago and some thief stole a bunch of stuff out of it but I was really not that pissed because they didn't hurt the truck. Always stings though.

Was your replacement window tinted also? Someone just did a smash and grab on my 2011 double cab. My rear windows have the factory tint, I'm wondering if non OEM replacements will be tinted also.

I think all the rear windows are OE tinted, so all the aftermarket bits should be too.

Windshields are sometimes different, and you have to specify what you currently have and/or if you want another type.

So, just ask when you call. Most of these places are franchises, so the same answer may, or may not, apply everywhere. It's why it's important to speak to your local shop.

I finally had time to research after I got off work. Toyota does sell the OEM glass, one is listed as green the other is listed as privacy. I'm guessing the privacy glass is the tinted one. My deductible is $300, the window at my local dealership is $207 though I did see another dealership (forgot which state) selling it for $156. I don't think it'll be too hard to install it myself. I'll be visiting the dealership after work for more clarification.

I repaired vehicles that were stolen or vandalized for over 2 decades, mobile. At their work, golf course, mall, wherever. I've heard some crazy stories.

I also had a "retired" professional car thief move next door to me. He had several "retired" theif friends as well. I've heard some crazy stories.

That rear (or front) side glass will be easily replaced.

Just realized I never did the write up intended for this thread. I took some pics too to help.

But that video pretty much nailed it on the head.

Someboat, I managed to get my rear passenger window in. I took out the window seals and loosed up the two bolts that hold the guide inside the door. I stuck the back of the glass in first at a low angle so that the bottom front of the glass was about 1/8 inch just outside of the metal frame. I cheated and took a round file to the sheet metal around the area where the glass would barely fit.

Got the window in. Fit it into the lower guides inside the door. I put some grease on the bare metal where I filed and put the seals back on and had it go up and down several times so I knew it was on track and wouldn't bind.

    Hope that helps.
