I've discovered my passenger side mirror moves inward while driving. This seems to happen from wind pressure. I wouldn't mind it so much if I had power mirrors or a way to adjust it from inside the cabin.

Is there a way to tighten the mirror so it won't move around from wind pressure that occurs while driving?

    Thank you for any suggestions.

Thanks, GQ for posting. I see RockAuto has foldable and non-foldable mirrors for sale. I would like to try the foldable version and just replace both. Since the cost is low, I'm tempted to just try a foldable version and see how it comes out. Maybe the problem started with someone needing to fold the mirror in and out often and wore out the ball and socket that holds it in place.

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
You can "adjust" the mirror yourself.
Remove the plastic triangle cover on the inside.
The unbolt the mirror from the housing.
You'll need to use a thin putty knife and pry off the mirror glass. I found a small torch or lighter worked to heat up the tip of the knife.
    It softens the glue.
Once the mirror is off you'll see a serrated washer over a stud.
Take a deep socket the same size of the washer, and tap it several times.
I have photos from a write up I did on installing defrost mirrors. I'll try and post photos here.

Thanks Pete. I think my 99 has a different mirror design. I wish I had one like yours.

    Here's a vide about replacing 1999 mirrors.

The glass is stationary while the part that swivels is on the arm that connects to the body.

I see in this thread where people are upgrading to 2001-2004 mirrors. I may need to make that upgrade.

The fix for mirror flop is to tighten the adjustment spring.

I removed the cover with a Torx T15 driver. A 10mm can be used to tighten the tensioner spring.
