This has probably been discussed and has been buried in the message board somewhere, but I thought I would make a quick gripe. Why on earth would they only include parking sensors on the rear bumper and not the front with the tech package? This screams “half-ass” to me. I love the truck, and that’s probably the only real complaint I have. I park in parking garages for work and the front sensors would have been an excellent feature when you are swinging your front end around tight turns and walls in parking garages. Anyone else annoyed at that too?

Nahh. Love the backup sensor/camera since I have a long bed!

I like it too. I just don’t get why they would flake out on putting 2 sensors on each corner of the front bumper as well.

This is exactly why I stepped up to a Limited this time around... the PVM and birds eye camera is AWESOME for parking and maneuvering in tight spots! I love it! Plus, I got all the other bells and whistles included as standard equipment (plus 18" wheels).

Could you buy 2 sensors and then install them in the front? Would they work if you just tapped them into the rears?

    Yes
Have you tried backing into your spaces? Idk if it’s just me I’ve always backed in when driving a truck.

Not just you. It was a safety requirement at my previous job to always back into parking spaces. I thought that was silly at first, but I quickly realized how much easier it is when your steering axle is last in/first out. Now I back in everywhere that isnt street parking, from grocery stores to my own garage.

Totally agree here. Yea, we got a camera in the front. But I'd rather be watching where I'm going and have an audible alert than staring at an
    8" inch screen.

yep, totally agree, wish they had done this. As others have said, I now back into spots as much as I can. I'm interested to know if front sensors could be added. They'd have to be calibrated correctly to be useful.

I'll be adding a front camera to get around it.

Add aftermarket one up front. Not tied into the vehicle system.

Guess I was thinking about tying it in to the Tacoma system. Good call

I’m with you all. I’m disappointed in toyota not having this as a standard feature. Backing in or not it should be included for the price tag we pay. My wife’s mid tier model rogue from years ago came with heated seats birds eye and most of the stuff on the limited. Subaru seems the same. Crazy to me that it isn’t standard. Always loved the Tacoma but it’s a huge -1 for them in my opinion.

Just utilized my PVM a few minutes ago. Just installed my bed step and my german shepherd, who has crippling hip dyspepsia (poor thing), laid down in front of my truck when I was working on it. When finished, I started the engine and that usually will make a dog move, but I could see in my bird's eye view, she stood up, but was still in front. After giving my horn a quick beep she moved off to the side and I only knew this because of the side camera. I had no line of sight on her the whole time, but with the aid of the cameras I knew she was safely out of the way. They work great for tight parking spaces as well.

Best thing since sliced bread IMO... especially, now that I'm getting older.

    YMMV,
    Ted

Backing it in isn’t a problem, and I always do that. Where the front parking sensors would help me, is when I’m pulling in and out of a parking garage in real tight spaces. Many parking garages kind of “spiral” down underground. When you spiral in and out, its very tight in space. You have to be very careful not to clip your front bumper or side panel against the wall. This is why I want those parking sensors on the front.

Ahhh I see I’m not a city guy nor do I frequent parking garages. I work in Boston but only park in train yards with my truck. That does make sense. I would check out the anytime front camera although not a fix to no sensors in front next best thing. Or maybe armor for a front bumper lol

Its a common move. I've had a few cars this way.

The most amusing to me was front and rear park distance sensors and a backup camera on a 3-door F56 John Cooper Works Mini. It's just... I mean... it's so damn small! (Holy shit I loved that car... it was so, so much better than the F56 cooper S, that thing was hot garbage.)

Yeah, trust me, I'm no "city-guy" myself and I've been working in Washington, D.C. for nearly 5 years. I'm praying I'm out of here no later than next Spring. Things are just getting stupid.

I usually back into parking spots but front sensors would be great for those super tight corners
