Pandora opens and source switches to Android Auto every time I plug in my phone

I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem I run into.

Every single time I plug my phone into the truck, Pandora opens and the radio changes to Android auto as the source.

The majority of the time I just want to charge the phone and the cool charging pad works like crap with a phone in its case.

I've forced stopped Pandora, rebooted the phone, started the truck with the phone plugged in, plugged in after starting, and every other combination I could think of. I've changed all connection and bluetooth/auto play options in the Pandora app, and nothing works.

Plug it into the other USB ports in the center console, rather than the one in the dash.

Not sure how android works, but does the app have settings in your phone outside of the app? Like apple, theres the app settings in the app, then there’s settings for the phone for the app. Maybe?

Android has this as well. Have checked and tested all settings in both.

I get that there are other usb ports. So I should just chalk this up to another thing that Toyota lacks that is just accepted as normal?

I get vehicle quirks, and I know I'm new to Tacomas, it just seems I find something every week that should be there or doesn't work correctly that everyone simply accepts as "oh that's just a Taco".

No, you can turn it off on your phone as well.
Open Setting, go to Apps and Notifications.
    Find Android Auto.
    Disable.

It's in the General Settings menu on the head unit. It is called "Projection Settings" once clicked, it will pull up another menu to say...

    Android Auto. ON/OFF
    Apple Carplay. ON/OFF

Switch both of those to off if you want to only start android auto manually.

On Samsung phones, in the advanced settings area, there are settings for Android Auto as well, and you can turn off "Automatically resume media", but I'm not sure if they are in the same place on other phones.

    THANK YOU!!!!

I was looking in all of the app settings both in-app as well as the apps list in settings menu and never thought to look in the advanced features. I will try again when I go to lunch today to be sure this worked.
