Just saw a post on whether or not a guy should repair his truck after getting hit and run, I’m not sure why this is even a debate on a newer truck.

For those of you who have not had or seen Paintless dent repair I have pictures of what a really good Paintless dent repair person can do.
These dents (there are two if you look close one above the other )were extremely deep and sharp from the handle bar on my motorcycle backing out of the garage (I know I’m a dumbass)
    They are almost invisible now.
They are only really visible in the sun because the paint got distorted.

I have had excellent results with PDR....It definitely is based on the skill of the person doing it.My personal opinion is that yours is too damaged for this.

When you find a good one, those guys are magicians. They typically charge around $100 a dent. I've used them multiple times for door dings. Looking at what the OP had, I'm guessing that was about a $300 repair.

I've had it done three times, all times absolutely undetectable afterwards. One dent was on the A pillar of my Mustang, about the size of a quarter, one was a door ding on my 2nd gen. And when I bought my new truck in 19, there were two dings on the roof that I asked the dealer to fix via PDR, rather than bondo and repaint, which they did. Both times I paid, the cost was about 140. I would not hesitate to use a good one again. The guy in my neck of the woods is awesome, he made my buddys 96 F350 look like new again by removing a shit-ton of dings. I think he paid about a grand, but the guy worked on his truck all day. It was way easier than repainting the truck, as the paint was good, just dinged up. I dont know what the dealer paid to fix my roof, but the dents were very minor.

That is well worth that price. I just purchased a pretty high quality kit off Amazon. I got a pretty good dent out of my sons Ridgeline (here come the flames) about 95% the way. It came out pretty good for my 1st time. Son was very happy as it was a an 18" 2' deep dent. Those dents the OP had would need those long prybars which I don't have. I'm thinking of doing it seriously as a retirement job.

I've had PDR on another vehicle with great results. The guy that did the work also showed me how the process worked so that was cool. As far as the OP stated it only slightly noticeable, could be like the guy mentioned who did the work for me that's it's near impossible to get it perfect because those dents slightly stretch the metal. Another thing, I'm of the belief that any auto body shop will never ever...ever be able to match a factory paint job.

It was one of the tougher ones he had done
I had one shop tell me to get it painted because it won’t come out using paintless repair
The pictures don’t do justice on how deep these were.
He had it for a day and a half, took the door right off the truck and he is super fussy, so what you and I would consider good he could not.
He wasn’t happy until it would not ripple in the light.
It was 800 CND which was worth it not to have it painted.
He charges a lot less than that for normal hail and door dings.

I personally ended up caving my bumper in on trail last weekend and about 20 mins with a heat gun and an ir thermometer and i had it looking near perfect. Granted the bumpers are plastic but similar methodology. Doors are a different story altogether, OP's repair looks seemless.

I have had the same thoughts and looked into the training. What I have found is that the training is expensive and it is hard to make any money because most people don't care about their cars and live with it. Dealers are where the PDR guys do most of their work, but the competition for that business is fierce because dealers don't really care about quality as much as price. Retail PDR guys charge around $150 a dent. Dealers are paying around $25 per dent. Obviously volume is there at a dealer, but that is 6 dents worth of work that one retail job would bring.

Can anyone recommend PDR in S/E Wisconsin? My buddy had an "incident" in his garage this past weekend.

I'm certain that Santa is bringing me a set of these dent removal tools for Christmas. The wife has several small dents in her driver side door. I fixed the cause where they were coming from so no new ones lately. Just thought I would give these dent removal tools a try.

Long as the paint isnt cracked or scratched, the PDR guys can make it like new again. Had lots of luck with them over the years.

I got a PDR kit too, no pry bars in mine but I was able to fix (not perfectly like a pro) a couple huge dents in the new washer and dryer that were installed. It's kind of fun.

Yea he is skilled at his job and was almost passionate about dents.
I had other shops tell me no way, get it painted.
