I was curious to know if you can paint the OEM OFF ROAD black fender flares to look like the SPORT paint matched ones?

Yes you can, thats how they make sport flares... they are just painted offroad ones.

Otherwise, I bet you could find someone with a sport who would trade you flares.

I figured that they are the same thing but the physical properties between the two just feel a lot different.

You would definitely need to clean them with wax and grease remover thoroughly and the spray them with plastic adhesion promoter followed by sealer /base coat /clear but you won’t be happy after they get rock chips . They will .

So SPORT and OFF ROAD flares are two different physical materials?

No, they are the same part, just one is painted.

Offroad flares are bare plastic, sport just paints over the bare plastic.

Just like how base model SR trucks have black front bumpers... its the same bumper as everyone else, they just didnt paint it.

No if you look closely at sport flares you can see the texture still . But all the material buries it a bit .

A paint shop will need to prep the fenders well prior to painting. I don’t know how well they will hold up during serious wheeling

Damn thats too much money for paint... like way too much for paint. You should be looking around $200 to spray them (if you take them off yourself)
