You know I don't like my weathered black grill on my 2006 Taco, I am also bored with the chrome emblem. I think I will strip off the emblem chrome and clean it. Then spray paint red gloss or matt red. Same for the grill, clean well with the numerous times using Mother's Back to Black and then spray paint it matt black. Using one of those rattle cans. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.

Meant to say clean grill because of the numerous times of using Mother's Back to Black.

Those dip paints can chip and peel.

If you want it to be reversible you could just plasti-dip it. But if you want to paint it I recommend using duplicolor perfect match paint and clear coat. I color matched my grille and my interior with it and it's holding up well after 2 years. But since you just want black you could probably get away with any decent quality paint as long as you clear coat it.

I used plastidip on my grille about 6 months ago. It was easy and is still holding up. Though I would much rather have a paint matched grille. I did also do my wheels and rear bumper a couple weeks ago. They turned out well too.

I am not sure I would use the Mother’s as a cleaning product, it is very oily. I would sand with a fine sandpaper and clean with acetone before painting.

If your going to re-do the badge, why not just ditch it, and go with one of these:
    upload_2017-10-18_19-32-10.jpg

I never could stand the dumb mushroom logo.

For those that don't know, its the original Toyota motors logo from the 30's.
