Paint Protectant Film

Any of y’all recently get your hood/bumper of your ‘24 Taco PPFd? Is $1300 outrageous for full hood and front bumper? Any good/bad PPF experiences or advice? My ‘09 I traded in with 235k miles was full of hood paint chips from all my years of trips to CO and NM gravel roads etc and I really don’t want this one to look like that as the years go by!

1/2 front incl lights and mirrors $900

That price is fine if the installer is good. PPF is all about the installer. It takes a talent to do it right and well. Go look at some of his jobs. Is he rolling the edges, not cutting them? Cut will get dirt underneath and look like hell. I’d have done PPF on about 6 of my cars. Have used three different guys. Workmanship is all over the board. I will not be doing the truck.

 

I did my 2016. I've got PPF rolls, squeegees, and spray bottles ready for my 2024 sitting on a rail car somewhere between Mexico and Montana. It's not that hard. YouTube it.

You can buy pre-cut kits from eBay if you so desire for $300.

 

Price seems about right, I had my 2022 done with STEK (best right now) full front, behind cab (removed factory junk) and rear wheels, finished up with paint correction and ceramic coating using Cquartz UK 3.0 (2 coats) and DLUX, was $2400 total, give you that was 2 years ago, AL, bham area.

My wife's 23 RX we did similar with PPF but Gtechniq Ultra (since hers is black) and was $2200.

My 2019 I did PPF all down the rocker the rear cab and wheels, full front in Suntek (was the best at the time) and ceramic pro was $2400, this was in AZ Mesa area.

As others mentioned it should range from $1000-2000 depending on product, installer and location. I will say its 100% worth it. I only ceramic coated my 2020 and that poor truck even after 2 years.

 

This^ I always laugh at the "just buy some off ebay and do it yourself" responses.

 

Have you ever done PPF? It's not hard to do a quality job. Just because you're hiring some guy to do it, doesn't mean it's going to be a good job.

I mean if you don't mind a "diy look" job go ahead and waste the money and time trying it yourself. IT ISN'T easy to do a good job. Good PPFers are very talented and have spent hundreds of hours and hundreds of cars to get good. Yes I am anal and I don't want a hack job on my $50K car/truck. I have seen guys that did it themselves and say it is easy and it looks good. Their definition of good is completely different than mine. @Sagebrush feel free to post close up pics of your job. Would love to see the edges, corners and especially the side mirrors with full coverage. Also then show it off after some off-roading and a few washes.

 

I was gonna say this but don't think it would have been received. No to mention did you paint correct, and how good are your skills at that DIY before slapping down a giant clear sticker, lol.

 

She needs a bath. This is with 117,000 miles in the middle of Idaho and western Montana. Lots of camping, fishing, and hunting trips.

 

I got the bumper, grille surround, 24” hood, mirrors, undercoating and rust proofing for $1600 Canadian at Line-X and they did a great job. I’d also recommend getting the leading edges of the rear fender bulge done with PPF. The latter I ended up doing myself with some strips from Amazon, it wasn’t that hard.

 

And it looks great.
