I have a 2015 Blue Ribbon Metallic SR5 with 42k miles. Its been a great truck mechanically, the only issue I have is the paint. Its a shame, considering I have such low miles on a nearly 10 year old truck.

About 4 years ago, I started having paint peeling on the passenger side rear door. I contacted Toyota and they said to bring it to my local dealer. They agreed it was a defect and paid for the repair. About 2 years later, the same area on the drivers side started peeling. Toyota wouldn't budge this time, brought it to the same dealer. I ended up touching up the area myself with touch-up paint, so far its held up well. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed paint peeling on the front fenders under the hood. Same kind of peeling as the other areas. I then came across this thread on Reddit regarding Customer Support Program 23TE08. The issue described in the bulletin sounds and looks just like the issues I have with my truck. The program is only for 2016-2022 Tacomas - specific to Super White paint. https://www.reddit.com/r/ToyotaTacoma/comments/17hcai3/customer_support_program_23te08/ Besides the paint peeling in the areas above, I also have clear coat failure on my roof.

Does anyone on this forum have similar issues as my truck, on a Blue Ribbon Metallic or other color (not white)? Have you had any success getting this repaired under warranty? Any recommendations?

Hopefully someone can chime in here with some suggestions. Here’s my thoughts for what it’s worth. 9 to 10 year old truck, Toyota isn’t going to touch that. You can contact a regional factory representative but I doubt you’ll get any help. Toyota Tacomas are known for paint or clear coat peeling/failure after a few years. Generally the clear coat starts peeling after around 8 to 12 years. This is quite common on all colors. Mine started around the 10 year mark. Mine is Barcelona red. Started on the roof and then the fenders. Once the clear coat starts to fail there ain’t much you can do. I finally had mine completely painted. Looks great but not cheap.
You may as well contact the regional factory rep. It can’t hurt, but I’m pretty positive they won’t do anything. The paint problem has been discussed dozens of times in these forums. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. How do I contact a regional factory rep?

Don’t know if this is a good number or not but give it a try between 8 and 5, M thru F.
    (800) 874-8822
Otherwise search the net or call a dealer and ask them for a number to resolve a complaint.
As I said I’m pretty positive they ain’t going to do anything for you 9 years after original sale. Let us know what they say

I have a 2015 same color Blue Ribbon metallic and no paint issues at all. Strange.

I have a 2015 mgm that’s outside 24/7 and mine is holding up with no signs of clear coat failure like what I read on here with the dark color trucks. I do keep it waxed but I think others did also that had failed clear coat. I think it’s just factory paint job failure and there’s really nothing you can do about it except new clear coat.
