I started this today. I’m waiting on drawer slides. I’m picturing a 2” angle frame to mount the tray in. I think I want to weld on tabs and use the truck bed bolts to tie it to the truck. I don’t want to drill holes in the bed unless I have to. This frame is 1” box and angle. Plus .125 flat steel. I’m posting pics of the process in case anyone is interested

Stainless 1/4 20 riv nuts installed. First time using an actual tool. It works better than an impact for stainless

Why don't you put a wood platform under this in you truck bed and bolt the slide to the wood frame? As long as the frame is well fitted between the two sides of the bed, it won't slide around.

I am trying to stay away from wood. I picked some 1.5” angle for the bottom frame. I want to add tabs and bolt it down using the factory bed bolts. I’m concerned that it will want to tip forward when I pull the slide out. I’ll have slides soon too

That’s nice. I also saw a couple made with plywood and 2x4s. I’m copying their ideas. I will have about $100 in steel, $65 for drawer slides and $60 for 2 pack out plates. About 230 total with paint and hardware

A little more progress. 10-32 bolts going in. Now that the slides are mounted in the rails, I’ll weld in cross pieces to set the width of the rails. Hoping that will eliminate any bind
