I am looking at putting airbags on my new 2021 Pro, as I am adding the Decked system, bed rack, RTT + Awning at times, and plan to load heavy on semi frequent basis. I know many seem to go Firestone with Daystar Cradles, but the PacBrake kit seems very well thought out and takes into account articulation and droop.

Here is a link for more information:

    https://pacbrake.com/product/hp10328-pacbrake-air-spring-kit/

Is anyone running this set up? Also they list compatibility with up to 2020, any reason it shouldn’t work on a 2021?

    Thanks for all the help

I just ordered the kit for my 2018 DCSB. I'm on OME HD leaf packs. Hopeing this will help level out under heavy loads and not limit articulation in a significant way.

Post up when you get going on your install! I just got all of my parts in and plan to start the install this weekend. Still waiting for their wireless controller/ compressor bundle.

I just attempted to install, but the driver side bracket and top plate don’t seem to fit properly. The lower bracket, cant seem to get between the bump stop/Ubolt and the hanger for the brake lines. And the top plate seems to hit the major cable system running under the bed. Did you hit any of these issues. I have a 2021. The passenger side seems all good.

Driver and passenger side brackets needed some major modification to fit properly. I did this about a 3 weeks ago. Its fits right now.

    Driver side: Two issues.
    1. the brackets are too wide to fit between the U-bolts and the brake line bracket. I had to shave off 1/16" - 1/8" to make it fit.
    2. the portion where the air spring sits on sits waaay to close to the leaf spring, allowing very little room for the brake line to pass through. I had to cut and weld to relocate the side portion by 1/4". This gave it alot more room for the brake line to pass through and voiding extreme angles.
    See below images for reference.

    Passenger side: One issue.
    1. The air spring mounted sits really close to the exhaust pipe. It was rubbing against the suppplied heat shield. I reduced the bracket overall width by 1/4", which offsetted the air spring out board so it doesn't rub the supplied heat shield.

Overall, the kits mounts require modification to fit. I don't know if my U-Bolts are bigger than OEM since i'm using OME HD leaf packs - which added to the mods needed. But still overall the mounting brackets are a tight fit. Even if everything was OEM, the brackets would still needed to be modded. The air spring themselves, seems quite nice. On jacks, it seems i can get full droop travel, and looks like it won't interfere with full compression. So it seems theres full articulation - although I haven't done any real wheelin to test it yet.

Another thing to note, the ride seems to firm a bit when aired to 20lbs to level it out when I'm fully loaded with my gear. Rides ok IMO.

Also the kit they sent me included the wrong size compression fittings, the kit included 1/4" fittings, when they should have included 1/8" fittings. They did send me the right size fittings eventually. And they seems to care about correcting things. But by this point, I already got around addressing the fittings on my own.

I think they have a quite a unique solution in regards to air springs for tacomas. Its unfortunate their kit doesn't work out of the box. And its quite a premium over other brands.

Thanks for this, yes it was a looking like a lot of modifications, and so i aborted. I am about to put in the RAS kit. Will run it for a bit and then revisit pacbrake. I was bummed that it didnt fit out the box. I am curious if they will update the kit for brackets that will fit 2021 and forward..

I recently had Pacbrake bags install on top of my Dakar 112 HD springs in a '21 SBDC OR and I'm experimenting try to find the correct air pressure to run. i carry roughly 600Lbs of gear in the bed.

Some bumps it pogos, some it is smooth, others are harsh and rarely seems as linear at soaking up the bumps in the road as the leafs alone were.

    Any suggestions on pressure settings?

Also, Big Country Customs in Abbotsford BC manufactures a system similar to the Daystar system.

From what I've read, the bigger air bags rides bouncy when its not so heavily loaded compared to the sleeve style air bags used in the kit i'm using. Plus the shocks play a factor too - if the shocks valving isn't necessarily suited to dampen this kind of load.

With the smaller sleeve style air bags on my OME HD leaf, I run ~5lbs to just level it out a bit. This is with ~500lbs of worth of gear in the bed. When I fully load with gear and family packed in, I run about 15-20lbs to just level it out a bit. I run just enough pressure to get rid of the squat and level it out. With my family packed in with all the gears, I'm waaay over the payload capacity by maybe 200-300lbs (just a estimated guess). I'm guessing ~800-900lbs worth of cargo sitting in the bed when fully loaded when I do a trip with my family.

Thanks, I have the Pacbrake Tacoma kit, hoping I don't have to replace the OME nitrochargers.
