Installed the P3 brake controller with the 3040 cable in my 07 Tacoma Sport. Everything seemed fine, unit powered on, changed the LCD color etc . I hooked this up to my 08 Fun Finder 189FSB for the calibration portion. Again seemed fine, unit looked like it was sensing the trailer. So I leave it idling and do a light check on the trailer and come back to find the screen black on the P3.

It will not power on (or at least light the screen). I have checked all the fuses that mention trailer or towing with an DMM. The unit is getting +12V on the power pin and the ground is solid; the other two wires are at ~0V. Am I missing something here, reset on the device, some fuse I didn't think to check? Other than the P3 DOA everything seems fine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Derrick

Instructions for my Prodigy state: BLANK DISPLAY
    1. Loss of power
    2. Loss of ground
Power- saving mode due to no motion for fifteen minutes.

Otherwise, I can't offer any more than you have already done. Good luck.

Just to update the thread and for future searches. I contacted Tekonsha tech support about my problem. The guy I spoke too stated that if there is 12V and gnd to the unit it will power up. There is also an internal reset that happens when the device is unpowered for 10 to 15 seconds. He quickly told my that the P3 had failed and was defective, asked if I needed a factory return or that I could return it locally to my place of purchase (which I did).

I am going to assume that these are very reliable brake controllers seeing as there was virtually no mention of failures that I could find on google or yahoo. Good customer service too.

    Thanks for the replies,

    Derrick
