P2714 engine code....won't shift

Hey guys. I just bought a new to me taco and here it is three days since I bought it it's sidelined. The transmission says it's in neutral but it's definitely in a gear...I think park. It's an 06 five speed automatic transmission. Just hoping u guys know a little more than I do about it.

 

From google on a P2714 code...

The Linear Solenoid Valve (SLT) control the transmission line pressure for smooth transmission operation based on signals from the throttle position sensor and the vehicle speed sensor. The Engine Control Module (ECM) adjusts the duty ratio of the SLT solenoid valve to control the hydraulic line pressure coming from the primary regulator valve. Appropriate line pressure assures smooth shifting with varying engine outputs


So the good news is it sounds like the transmission itself should be okay, its likely something wrong with the SLT valve it sounds like...

 

OK. Thanks...is that a difficult repair?

 

Honestly, I don't know...I just looked up the code to see if it related to the transmission and if it sounded serious or not.

@gearcruncher really knows his stuff, maybe he can chime in on this...

What gear does the dash say the transmission is in ?
If you go through the gear ranges , does each individual range on the dash light up ?
