The other day the check engine light in my 05 Tacoma with 65000 miles came on. The code was "P2401 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Control Circuit Low". I haven't noticed any change in performance or fuel mileage. I erased the code and drove home from O'reilly's and it's still off. Should I just forget about it? Anyone had this issue? Thanks

yeah, mine has been on for over 20,000 miles. The only problem i was having is that when i filled up my gas tank, or when my truck sat through a cold night and then a hot day without being started, the fumes from the gas tank would swell up and run backwards through the charcoal filter (or a related valve) and cause my truck to not start without cranking it forever. I just re-routed the gas tank vent line to another location and problem solved.

**Because my check engine light is always on, i periodically scan the codes to make sure that nothing new has popped up. Otherwise you could have a new code and never know because you are so used to seeing that light on.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered if it had to do with it being near 0F the other night. I guess I'll see if it comes back on, then maybe I'll look into that mod you did.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Sounds like you might need a new canister module since the malfunctioning pump is inside of it. Or it could just be the vsv for the purge.

I wouldn't reccomend doing that mod unless you have my specific problem, it seems to be a rare problem that does not occur with every case of that check engine code. Wait and see if you need it before you waste your time.

Well, the light never came back on. I am thinking the gas cap may have been loose or it had to do with the 0degree temps. Another forum mentioned the cap. Thanks fellas

It came back on once. I cleared it again and I haven't had it come on. Nor have I had any issues that I have noticed. I think the weather had something to do with it the first time honestly. Being about 0* F that is.
