    Hey guys.

i’ve been having some issues and getting lots of codes related to my MAF and Throttle body and lean codes on bank 1 and 2. While investigating I found my air filter box is all effed up and not closing tightly along with missing one of those spring clamps. I ordered a new air intake assembly and in the meantime I cleaned the MAF which is fairly new (maybe a year and a half old denso) and that cleared some issues with the MAFs codes. A day later (last night) I cleaned the throttle body. it was filthy and took some time. After getting it all put back together the idle was at 2k rpm (normal right?) and then this morning it was rough idling bouncing up and down. I ran a scan and noticed code P2109 and then went through the steps to reset the sensor. Now it’s hanging around 11-1200 rpm when it’s usually around 750 or 800. if I turn the ac on, it cycles between 800 and 11 or 1200 changing every 4 or 5 seconds. I ran the scan again and i’m still seeing the p2109 code Throttle Position Sensor. Any suggestions?

    appreciate you guys as always

    Mark

Was there any codes before any work was done?

What did you use to clean the throttle body? Did you allow the ECU to go through the idle relearn process?

I’d pull intake air tube and see if the throttle blade is closing fully.
Also be sure that the intake tube is attached fully and not allowing air in after the MAF. If you have a scan tool, you might want to see what the MAF is reading engine Off, On, and idling.

    Next, reset the learned ISC.
Remove the EFI and ETCS fuses at the same time, wait 60 seconds or more, and then reinstall the fuses to reset the ISC learned value.

The only codes that did not clear are the lean codes for bank 1 and 2 as well as the throttle position sensor code P2109 that I mentioned. These others cleared after cleaning the MAF sensor and Throttle Body. I did not clear the CEL after cleaning them, incorrect purge flow (that valve is somewhat new as is the MAF sensor itself)

also, I used the CRC throttle body cleaner and a lint free towel and soft bristle toothbrush.

You think it maybe has a vacuum leak?

With the engine off, and key On.
    What does the MAF read?

I think you have a vacuum leak, P2109 and P0101 are rationality codes and being you also have lean codes and a high/unstable Idle the first thing I would be looking for is a vacuum leak.
The P1605 has the wrong description in your scan tool, it's for rough/unstable idle not a knock sensor.
The EVAP codes are likely unrelated to the idle problem unless the Purge valve is leaking. Easy enough to check that by unplugging the electrical connector (this will set a circuit code but it can be cleared after reconnecting) and the hose going to the tank and see if there's vacuum present at the port on the valve, if there is the valve is bad.

I only have a shit scanner - I had recently purchased a bi directional scanner that had live data but it was the one from harbor freight and the first one wouldn’t connect to the truck or any vehicle for that matter and I brought it back and the second scanner I had to hold in an awkward position to get a good connection - those are complete shit

So the idle is solid now. Resting at about 800RPMs. I still have the two lean codes (i’m
hoping are from unregulated air seeping in where the air filters housing isn’t connected tightly at all but will soon be fixed) and the code that read for the P1605 has cleared and is staying clear. I’ll check the purge valve now to see if there’s a vacuum or not.

Did you reconnect (on the pass. side) the short hose that goes to the manifold from the back of the air box?

Nope. Pass. side, up between the firewall and where the filter goes into the air box.

is that supposed to connect to where that small tiny hole is at the back of the air filter housing? there’s a small round hole in the plastic to the left of where the large air hose connects with that phillips head tightening clamp.
    oh jeeze

Yup. There’s a nipple on the back of the air box. Easiest way I found, connect it to the fitting on the manifold, install air box, then attach it to the box. Definite PITA, but doable.
