P1135 does this code need to be cleared for sensor to work?

Code reader read p1135 bank 1 sensor 1, I replaced it with a denso part number

Advanced said its for a manual engine.
However I still feel that weak no power vibration when trying to accelerate past 40
When I installed I was told to disconnect the neg terminal to reset the code. Do I need to wait and see if the CEL comes back on after about 50 miles or so, and then have it reset with a real device for the sensor to start working?

Truck is a 2002 3.4l 6 cylinder 4/4Manual
I originally though it was a misfire so I changed all the plugs and wires. ( before the CEL came on )

 

Bank 1 sensor 1 is the air fuel ratio sensor, and will affect fuel trims if its not reading correctly. You can disconnect the battery for 10mins or so and reconnect it (CEL light should be off), the sensor should start working right away whether you do the reset or not. You may have to drive it through its "drive cycle" so the vehicle can relearn some fuel trims, so drive carefully with smooth acceleration. Once the monitors for the O2 sensors pass, you are good to go. otherwise, you may have other issues.

Computer will turn CEL off once proper repairs are made.
Battery disconnect doesn't clear stored codes, it only turns the CEL off and starts all engine ready checks.

 

If proper repairs are made, the CEL should turn off by itself after a few drive cycles at least 3.

 

Resetting a CEL is done by disconnecting the battery. You cant reset, recalibrate a sensor on a 1st Gen Tacoma. The computer ECM picks up on the working sensor.

 

The truck doesn't care about miles. If there's an issue, give it about 10-20 mins after warm-up to detect it.

 

Still having stuttering/vibrations and weak acceleration at 40 mph, can anyone tell if I used the wrong sensor ? Any other ideas what would cause this ? Feels just like a misfire.

 

What changes at that speed if you floor it?

Also did you gap the plugs to factory spec?

Clean the MAF sensor?

 

runs perfect until 43 then stuttering and a hollow sound with acceleration, just feels like it has no power.
This all started before I changed the plugs and wires.
What is the MAF sensor?
Could it be one of the 3 ignition coils?

So currently I am waiting to see if the CEL comes back on and then get a code, to see if says the same code.

 

Remember what ever code you get it is the complete circuit not just the sensor .

Video would help. I ask about full throttle because it will effectively bypass the o2 system.

Buy some MAF sensor cleaner and clean it. Should take 5 mins. It's one of those obscure maintenance items that should be done every so often - like every 60k maybe.

 

What ever happened with this? Any update?
I'm having a similar issue, bucking acceleration and at higher speeds, loss of power too. Got pending code for bank 1 too lean and p1135 for the upstream o2 sensor. Did replacing the O2 sensor eventually fix it for you?
