Ok, I've looked through everything I could find on TW and (in the words of Bono) still haven't found what I'm looking for.

I replaced both O2 sensors on my 2005 DCSB TRD Off Road (with a 4.0). After that and new spark plugs I cleared the P0430 code that it had before with the bad sensors.

Now, after the engine warms up it throws a P0606 code. My research has told me that it's probably the new O2 sensors but I haven't seen any "fix" for this other than new O2 sensors. I'm trying to find a way to fix this issue that doesn't involve me spending any more money.

If I have to spend more money the check engine light will just have to stay on with it's P0606 code. Is there any hope to fix this without dropping more coin?? TIA

Correct, that’s the only fault code.

Sounds like a bad electrical connection somewhere. I'd probably start by just going over the work you have already done and make sure all of the connections you touched are clean and making good contact. Have you done any other electrical mods, like LED lights or anything? Are all of your lights working properly?

I haven’t done any electrical mods. In the morning I’ll hit the connectors to the o2 sensors with contact cleaner and see if that helps. I just really hate check engine lights...

I feel you, I'm fighting with a totally random P0430 that pops up out of no where every so often with no ryhm or reason.

Thats not a good sign for the pcm, probably needs a new one.

Diagnosing a pcm failure when the vehicle still runs can be a little tricky. All you can really do is check all the power inputs and grounds. if they are good then you have to take the code description at face value, in this case its trying to tell you that something internal is fried

I don't think this will be easy to trace, but I Honestly don't think the pcm failed.

I don't think I ever heard of this code being thrown specifically on a Tacoma for a filament on a tail light, but have heard of other Toyota's with dual filament tail lights getting P0606 when one of the filaments in the dual filament bulb started getting weak.

If you decide it's the pcm, which I doubt, at least maybe consider spending the $5 for some new bulbs before buying a new pcm.

Good luck bro, keep us posted

That code was easy... new o2 sensors...

Did I mention it just got a new frame?? I’ll be poking around it today with a can of contact cleaner checking lights and o2 connectors and maybe inadequate grounds on the new frame... stay tuned... and thanks for the insight guys!!

    Update...

I cleared the code cleaned the o2 connectors and polished the ground to the chassis from the neg terminal. Went for a test ride and no code this far...

    Hope springs eternal!

What kind of 02 sensor did you use?

Did the connector look ok on the sensor? Ive seen people file down the plastic ridges to try to get the connector to fit something it shouldn't.

Personally, you should've stuck with Denso O2 sensors which are OEM. This may be throwing your codes.

Would have if I could have afforded it. Unfortunately I had to go with the best price instead of the best reputation.

Code came back. Lasted for about 10-15miles before code came back... truck runs great, I just really hate check engine lights... When I can I guess I’ll order the fancier denso sensors...

Partstrain.com sells the Densos. Give them a call, try to get credit for the ones you already bought.

It wouldn’t matter if they did. I knew the risk when I ordered. Everything is functioning fine I’m just going to deal with the check engine light until I have the fundage to replace the cheap O2 sensors...

I really appreciate everyone’s help though!!
