Overland Vehicle Systems Freedom Rack

Hi Folks-

I'm looking for something which will carry our Smittybilt tent on our newly acquired 2003 xtra cab with a 6 foot bed. I have heard good things about Overland Vehicle Systems, and their Freedom Rack looks very much like it suits what we need. Specifically, weight capacity plus the ability to put it high enough to allow us to carry mountain bikes over the tailgate easily. Then also the ability to drop the tent down below the cab when my older son takes the truck fishing and doesn't need the same tailgate access.

But I can't tell if it will mount on a first gen bed. Does anyone have experience with this?

Found it on a web store listed as compatible with first gen Tacomas, so it’s on the way.

 

Did you receive your Freedom rack? I am thinking about ordering one for my 2001 Xtracab. Would appreciate your opinion and pics. Thanks!
