Overhead rifle/shotgun holder

I'm looking for suggestions for something to mount a shotgun overhead above the backseat. I came across https://www.extremeterrain.com/tacoma-center-lok-overhead-gun-rack-holds-1-gun-cl1600-ogr.html but don't know how securely it attaches to the ceiling.

Any experience with these?

 

Ask the supplier for installation instructions. The picture does not show where it attaches or how much work is involved in doing so.

 

I’ve seen some installation videos on that one. Probably strong enough and stable for a gun. I wouldn’t be rough on it though.

The Meso hex mount is pretty darn rigid. Might or might not work for what you want.

Man, growing up, every other truck had guns in a rack in the back window.

 

In the school parking lot no-less.

 

Even on campus shooting clubs.

 

Course, I also knew a kid, 2nd grade, that brought some deer hooves in his backpack. Same year, another kid accidentally set his desk on fire.

 

Heck I went to grade school with clowns who were DRIVING.
We smoked cigs IN THE CLASSROOM.
In high school driving class we'd drive the teacher ( foot ball coach ) around town as he was putting down Budweisers.
If we got caught smoking weed in the bathroom the teachers would tell us to at least take it outside.
And if someone was lucky enough to get-it-on with the English teacher, nobody said a word.

And we lived to tell about it.

But we never, EVER had to deal with some maniac firing off magazines of .223's into classrooms.

 

And they left their trucks unlocked, with the windows down…

Yes! And that was perfectly ‘normal’. Especially during deer season.

Kids could buy .22 ammo at the local bait shop. Bought, titled and got the license plate for my first motorcycle at 14. My HS driving instructor often had to stop and make phone calls from bars. (Ours was the Science teacher.)


I’m not sure I would trust that gun rack in an accident. Not sure that Velcro would hold. And nowadays, if someone stole the gun, you would be on the hook, legally, because the gun wasn’t locked/secured.

Back in the first week of tech school (way back lol):
Me: Sees another adult student with needle nose pliers about to push them in to the desk mounted AC socket during lecture time.
Me also: starts to say something, then becomes curious. Lights dimmed. Much ensparkening. Very teacherized.

Yeah I'm not sure I'd trust that thing to hold while wheeling around. Oh well...

 

Think I would prefer a vertical behind the seat, but that's me. I just grabbed a random pic. Having gravity working against it & possibly staring down a muzzle (depending on which side you offload it) wouldn't give me the warm-fuzzies with an overhead.
