My 21 Taco dash consistently reads about 4 degrees warmer for outside temp than what it actually is.

I can't find any proof that I can calibrate it at all.

Anyone else seeing this or have solution?

    thanks,

Here in SoCal, if I leave the truck in sunlight all day and start it up, it will say much higher than it actually is. Once I start moving, the air starts cooling it down and drops almost 10 degrees.

Yep, I see that too. It's always way too warm on start up. But even after driving for 15 mins once it drops it never gets completely accurate. :(

    Parked or rolling?

The problem with those temp sensors is that they pick up heat that's radiating from the concrete. You can reduce that effect by running on the freeway for 10 minutes, but even then it's going to read a little higher than actual.

I think it might be adjustable in the head unit settings, if not, TechStream can do it. See the second to last screenshot here:

Rolling - but not highway, it was stop and go in city and it's 99 outside (truck reading 103). This heat is a bit much.

That's for the fancy auto AC, not the dash sensor

Stop and go on City streets, especially if it's asphalt, will still read high. Not the sensors fault, it's just the proximity to hot concrete.

Lol right. Bank sign? Internet temp? Butt thermometer?
Point is OP, there is no correct temperature unless.... you only have one temp reading.
One is always correct. If you have two, one of them will always be wrong.

One of the reasons that I like the manual CC.

The dash sensor is only a sunlight sensor. The ambient temp sensor is under the hood on the front, left side.

Good point though. I assumed it was a correction for the ambient temp shown on the display.

Parking that puppy in the shade will be closer to the ambient air Temp that most other sources are providing.

That's what I meant to say. Dash readout for the under hood temp sensor. :D:fistbump:

A lab thermometer with a recent calibration in a Stevenson screen. Duh.

Based on the weather station in my neighborhood, the one the local news uses.

This. Phones are only accurate based on the location of the sensor for the particular app being used

The temperature isn't constant everywhere. My city can vary 5 degrees just between the north and south portions and it is only 4.5 square miles. Lots of factors come into play when talking about temperature.

Let's not forget also the fact that the temperature sensor is trying to be as accurate as possible when factoring in wind speed and so stop and go is likely not going to be quite as accurate. I've gotten into my truck lots of times and the thermometer read 90° when it was 72° outside. As I started moving it began to read more accurately.
