Noticed my outer tie rod boot on the drivers side is torn or it came out of place (the boot). Any issues driving with an open boot or should I just get new ones? I can get both OEM sides for $90 shipped if need be. Thanks

Well letting all the dirt into the joint will wear it out faster .

I am sure you know the boots keep the grease in and the dirt out.

Now what other work needs to be done in the steering or suspension??

May as well do it all and get one front end alignment .

Everything else is tight, so I will get both OEM outer tie rods and then get a toe and go alignment

Those boots are really important. I once installed a rebuilt rack (not taco) which was very old based on the dust on the box from the parts store. The rack was fine but the boots were brittle and cracked up. Shortly the inner tie rod on the drivers side froze up and broke, while I was driving.. Very dangerous situation. You can get the boots alone.....from Moog...

Do you mean the little boot that fits over the stud above the tie rod's ball joint?

I have an extra set of energy suspension poly boots you can have if you want them. They are brand new and still in the packaging. Send me a pm with your shipping info and I'll send them to you.

Thank you for the offer. I just got back from the dealer and purchased left/right side outer tie rods and the hex nuts (2) for $100 out the door

If I would have know sooner that you could just replace the boot I would have done it, but who knows how dirty it was inside the boot and or for how long. Mine has 207K, and I do not know the last time they were changed

Just changed both sides (my guy charged me $40 total for labor). The one with the boot tear, it was still strong but inside was full of gunk. Better safe than sorry. Quick toe and go too and I'm all set

Forgot to add, the ones on there were original with 207K :D

    Hi Digiratus,
Do you have part numbers for the dust boots by any chance? I got part numberes for the upper ball joint poly boots but I need part numberes for tie rod boots and lower ball joint boots.
I wanna place the order ASAP. Thanks in advance!

I looked around but couldn't find the boot pack. I think I gave them to somebody. But I did find a pic of that package and it shows the part number.

A search of Amazon with this part number turned up this:

    Digiratus,
Thanks so much for the part number.
This confirms that the lower ball joint and the tie rod end use the same part number you provided me and the upper ball joint uses 913119. Thanks so much once again and have a good night! I appreciate you!!!
