OTT and Tacoma Warranty

Does the OTT tune void the Tacoma warranty?

 

This has been discussed quite extensively on the board recently.
I'm sure one of the OTT people/tuners will be along to fully explain it all.
There has been some news recently regarding OTT and passing certifications and the like.
As to the tune itself, it's by far the single best mod other than my lift and tires I've done to my truck. Suffice it to say it really is a different truck now.

 

Personally I would pass on the tune if u don’t have any modifications on the truck . Always a possibility that it could void the warranty if they find that it was the cause of the issue . Also another thing to consider is passing emissions some states will fail u with the tune . There was a post on here about an emissions incident with a tune .

 

That is exactly what I was talking about. OTT is set to legally pass emissions here soon. I'm sure someone from OTT will be along to explain it all.

 

The OTT tune hasn't been reported to cause any engine failures, so dealer techs aren't known to check the PCM checksum prior to processing warranty repairs.

The more popular tunes like OTT or KDMax have been "proven" by thousands of people, so they're not likely to cause damage. A homebrew tune done by someone who doesn't know what he's doing can destroy your engine and/or transmission.

 

What are they going to explain that isn’t posted on here or on their site?

Bottomline is that it is extremely unlikely, but possible, it could void your warranty. The dealership would likely have to have some sort of vendetta against you (or have to look specifically for the tune). I’m not sure there is a documented case of warranty being voided due to a tune, at least not on here….but there’s always a first for everything

 

Nothing.

But the internet can suck pretty badly, and today a lot of people what it spoon-fed, and seem to have 0 desire to do any of that for themselves. Its always up to the individual person asking.
