Hey all, I’ve seen a ton of posts asking to borrow or buy the ECGS removal tool for the needle bearing, or posts recommending making your own. I wanted to share a pair of tools I rented from autozone that worked in literally one minute to pull the needle bearing once the rest was taken apart. ECGS tool is great, but I know some of us are on a budget, or just cheap like me.

Autozone rents a “Clutch pilot bearing puller attachment” for $16, and a “slide hammer” for $46 that attach together to yank that thing out. They also refund 100% of that money, taxes and everything, when you return the tools to them!

    Pics of tools attached

I saw the idea buried deep in a comment section and thought it’d be great as a stand alone, wanted to tag the original person but I can’t find it again.

Edit to add: ECGS bushing install tool, and axle seal install tool were extremely helpful. Axle seal removal tool was also super helpful to have, but just borrowed a friends.

Maybe a sticky is appropriate for this hack. It’s worth knowing and having a place to remind us.
